Cardinal Burke: ‘Very Grave Problem of Homosexual Culture in the Church
Breitbart ^ | Nolte

Posted on 08/17/2018 8:40:24 AM PDT by wardaddy

Cardinal Raymond Burke has called for “open recognition” of the Catholic church’s homosexual culture in light of recent revelations of sexual abuse. “I believe that there needs to be an open recognition that we have a very grave problem of a homosexual culture in the Church,” Burke said in an interview Thursday, “especially among the clergy and the hierarchy, that needs to be addressed honestly and efficaciously.”

he former head of the church’s equivalent of the Supreme Court said it was already “clear after the studies following the 2002 sexual abuse crisis that most of the acts of abuse were in fact homosexual acts committed with adolescent young men.”

“There was a studied attempt to either overlook or to deny this,” he said, referring to the mainstream media cover-up of the homosexual nature of the abuse as well as such denial within the church itself.

...so Maxi wants to change the canon law to outlaw sodomy, as well as to allow sex with women.

Seems to me that since there is no ration use of the penis and testicles by priests; they should have them removed.

The Church has made strides over the years to purge this.

Well; it's kinda like docking the tail of a young Boxer puppy.

To avoid a lot of pain to the pup by whacking and leaving just a nub to begin with; a person just removes one joint at a time...

Are you saying that there have been no scoutmasters arrested for child molestation since 1988 when the BSA Youth Protection Training Program was enacted?

Genesis 19:9 comes to mind...

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA), one of the largest private youth organizations in the United States, has policies which prohibit those who are not willing to subscribe to the BSA's Declaration of Religious Principle, which is usually interpreted as banning atheists, and, until January 2014, prohibited all "known or avowed homosexuals,"[1] from membership in its Scouting program. The ban on adults who are "open or avowed homosexuals"[2] from leadership positions was lifted in July 2015.[3] Prior to these policy changes, BSA had denied or revoked membership status or leadership positions for violation of these foundational principles. The BSA had contended that its policies were essential in its mission to instill in young people the values of the Scout Promise, or Oath, and Scout Law.[1][4]

The organization's legal right to have these policies has been upheld repeatedly by both state and federal courts. In Boy Scouts of America v. Dale, the Supreme Court of the United States has affirmed that as a private organization, the BSA can set its own membership standards. The BSA's policies have been legally challenged but have not been found to constitute illegal discrimination because as a private organization in the United States, the BSA has the right to freedom of association,[5] as determined in the court case.[6] In recent years, the policy disputes have led to litigation over the terms under which the BSA can access governmental resources, including public lands.

These policies have led to various disputes and controversies. In 2012, both Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and then President Barack Obama stated that they opposed the ban on gay Scouts.[7][8] On May 23, 2013, the BSA's National Council approved a resolution to remove the restriction denying membership to youth on the basis of sexual orientation alone effective January 1, 2014. The policy for adult leaders remained in place until July 27, 2015.[9]

The problem in Pennsylvania appears to have been a deep seeded network of...

Now, now...

Is THIS any may to think of a state that contains a city; the name of which is translated as "Brotherly Love"?

Many of our social firewalls against sexual abuse center around separating the genders during high risk situations.

We've overcome part of THAT problem with coed college dorms.

Priests don't tend to have consistent, unsupervised access to boys until they are about 12 years old (alter boys, servers, bible studies, CCD classes, etc.).

If the priests were; ahem; altered; would the problem then go away?

The Catholic Church has to get a grip on this.

Yes, I think there's a Biblical recommendation for this. Something about a "tying a millstone around the neck" and "the sea". Although millstones are rather in short supply, a cement block and some light chain would probably work just as well.

I'll bet there are some Guidos who would be more than happy to do the cleaning process.

How about stripping any priest who molests a child of his status and excommunicating him? That would certainly make the Church’s displeasure known to the rest of us.

That would be a start.

Jail time would also be appropriate.

The Catholic Church has weathered through far worse.

Such as?

I keep hearing that.

Cite some examples of *worse* than molestation and cover up of hundreds or thousands of kids by hundreds of priests over (known) decades and very likely centuries.
