Editorial: Strong democracy needs a free press
Honolulu Star-Ad ^ | August 16th , 2018 | Our View

The Boston Globe has urged newspapers across the country to publish editorials today promoting the value of a free press, and to defend it against criticisms by President Donald Trump.

It’s reasonable to ask why. It’s not news that a president of the United States doesn’t like the news media. Most presidents don’t. Thomas Jefferson, who was routinely attacked by the press of his day, once said the only truths in a newspaper were in the advertisements.

What’s disturbing today is the bitter vitriol and open contempt directed toward the news media.

A biased press is not a free press

We indeed need a free press. That is why the media giants consolidation of the press should be broken up like Ma Bell had to be back when.

When a small group of people own all the press, it by no means is free.

Free Press?

Editorial: Strong democracy needs a free press

That isn't under the control of a single political party. The "free press" must be shared by all, or it isn't free, and it won't protect freedom.

But it should not be. It uses public airwaves, and so other people should have access to those airwaves as well.

so how come it until yesterday for your paper to even write anything about Bruce Ohr...and this is the full extent of your interest?

15 Aug: Honolulu Star-Ad: After John Brennan, 9 others face losing security clearances, too
a look at the 10 individuals:
(FINAL NAME)
BRUCE OHR
The Justice Department official has come under Republican scrutiny for his contacts with Glenn Simpson, co-founder of Fusion GPS. The opposition research firm hired former British spy Christopher Steele during the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign to compile a dossier of information on Trump and his ties to Russia. Ohr’s wife, Nellie, worked for Fusion GPS during the campaign — a fact Trump has tweeted about in recent days to highlight his assertions of political bias as motivation for the Russia investigation.

Obviously the free press is part of the ongoing conspiracy consisting of Hillary Clinton , John Brennan , James Clapper , James Comey , Susan Rice ,Samantha Power , and a host of others , in mounting this coup to overthrow the government of the United States of America - a major, major crime against the nation.

Haven’t seen a free press since I don’t know when

They collude to get out a narrative and ignore facts

Dig deep enough and we’ll likely find this orchestrated editorial was funded by Fusion GPS.

It's reasonable to ask why a cabal that mocked President Trump in unison for misusing the word "wiretapped" in today's age of technology, itself still clings to the word "press" when not one of them ever touched a physical type-setter or actual printing press in their lives.

Of course, it's because "press" is protected in the Constitution, as is being "secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects." Today's "press" protects Constitutional rights for themselves, while mocking the Constitutional rights of others.
