yber criminals have hacked cash machines in 28 countries to loot over £10 million from an Indian bank.
Hackers infected the bank's credit card payment system with malware, which allowed them to approve transactions and access client accounts. Fake credit cards were then used to force ATMs around the world to dispense cash worth about $13 million until they were empty.
The attack on Cosmos Bank, based in the Indian city of Pune, was predicted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) last week. The FBI issued a warning to global banks that there would be a global cyber attack of ATMs within days.
UK-based banks with large international operations, such as HSBC and Barclays, are among those made aware of the threat.
The FBI said that it had intelligence that criminals were going to hack into a banking system using a highly choreographed fraud scheme known as ATM "jackpotting", in which crooks hack a bank or payment card processor and use cloned cards at cash machines around the world to take out millions in just a few minutes.

Usually you have to have a card issued by the bank to use an ATM..................
I have a debit card from the bank (which I never use).
You would have to specifically request a non-electronic, or non-direct-deposit account.
The bank hates this but you can do it. If savings oriented, it’ll be a lower interest rate. May actually charge you fees etc.. All transactions must be with teller.
Why dya think stinky had every ones bank info in his health care scam?
A broken clock is
Correct twice a day.
So who ends up out the money?
The Indian Bank?
The ATM machine operators?
The ATM networks?

Did they nail the perps? Or just the heads up?
The customers..................
i assume they just gave early warning to the banks. but exactly to who, when, and details of the warning, that remains to be seen.
perhaps, other banks heeded the warnings unlike the one in the report.
Ah, thanks.
If only Facebook and Google and Amazon etc had our banking and medical and our permanent records from school then this would never ever happen......
All,
It appears that the intel the FBI received on the ATM Cash Out attack vector has some validity.
