Vandals climbed aboard the USS Ling, a World War II-era submarine, and set to work.

Sorry for the very small excerpt. We visited the USS Ling almost ten years ago with our kids Cub Scout pack. It's fate has been undecided since then as it's basically stuck in mud in the Hackensack River and rusting out. Still a disgusting act of vandalism here.

As I recall, they've been trying to move this sub for a very long time, but because it's stuck in mud, it would be a very expensive project. My feeling is that the developers want it cut apart and hauled away or sold as scrap.

I've been through that sub with a friend, who, with his kids did a lot of the restoration work many years ago.

It was fascinating.

Some ham radio operators were transmitting from the radio room.
