So we do nothing? Just let them riot and break stuff? Perhaps the “poor optics” from their activity are good enough, but I’m not so sure. The media calls them an “anti-fascist group”, when they are in fact a group of anarchist thugs who just want to break things. Why are they allowed to act with impunity? One or two may get arrested, then released when the cameras are off. Even the bike lock guy from last year got off with a slap on the wrist and he could have killed someone. He is a freaking teacher!
The Koreans in the Rodney King riots shot back and the looters backed away and found some other stores to loot. Antifa are fascist revolutionaries but they are not jihadis who have the prophet’s promise of paradise. Most are atheists and when faced with the end of life at 23 or 24 I doubt their first thought will be to rush the shooter. Now how the law reacts will depend on the jurisdiction but nowhere in the Common Law is it required to submit to a physical beating when you have a means of seLf defense and numbers of attackers and location make retreat problematic.
