Prosecutors rested their case against Paul Manafort, the former Trump campaign chairman, in his fraud trial on Monday.

I could be wrong but I think this is Northern VA. Not much difference, I suppose with all the government types around, but still...
Do any of the jurors SMELL like Trump supporters?
Interesting:
According to Brennans testimony, the bank approved $16 million in loans to Manafort by CEO Stephen Calk, who was angling for a cabinet position in the Trump administration.
When asked by prosecutor Greg Andres if he thought the loan should have been be approved, Brennan replied, My recommendation was the loan not be made.
Brennan said the loan was approved because of Calk. He said the Federal Savings Bank ended up losing $11.8 million on the loan.
No you can only smell the Trump supporters in Wal-Mart apparently.
There is a difference on this case. The reason for the high conviction rate is the government only takes sure things to court. Partially because the guilty defendants take a plea and partly because the government only takes slam dunk cases to court.
We know that the government originally passed on this case. That may indicate that they didn't think this was a slam dunk and therefore is not up to their usual 95% standard.
Yes they will move for dismissal to preserve their rights on appeal, maybe even get a count or two dismissed but a lot of you are dreaming thinking that the judge’s behavior somehow means this is not a real case. The judge already declined to dismiss the case.
An acquittal can’t be overturned.
It is now up to the defense team to “DEFEND.” Then it will be up to the judge to provide instructions to the jury.
It is my hope that Mueller and his minions will be handed their head by the Judge and the Jury. If a perfect world, maybe the Jury will find Manafort guilty of some trivial offense and the Judge will allow him to go home based on time served.
I would proffer everything I knew about the Podesta's in exchange for a reduced sentence and make it known in the media that these was my terms. Wouldn't that be fun?!
I think Manafort will walk.
but a judge can be pulled off a case and that is what i feared might happen
Thats good because I always wonder about a toss-up.
They worked so hard to enact justice. They need a break.
Possible but unlikely in the middle of the trial.
We can hope.
Heck, that case needed to be given a rest a long time ago!
Yet he already exposed it as a political ploy against Trump. He was explicit! It were far better he had not said that, if he is just going to let this travesty play out.
He is playing games, like Gowdy and Issa: sound and fury signifying nothing.
Gloria Navarro threw out the Bundy case with prejudice! She did not rant from tbe bench, then give them what they wanted.
I am through respecting elected or appointed governmental apparatchiks just because someone says I should.
The judiciary is a festering cancer on the body politic.
Yep, even the notorious Nazi People's Court had a lower conviction rate than we do.
It is a “real case” that was not prosecuted at the legitimate time in the legitimate way.
If “real” means a sincere attempt to serve blind justice, then, No, this is NOT a real case.
While we are at it, let us have every unpursued legal matter concerning every member of the Trump campaign, no matter how spurious, going back to adolescence, revisited with extreme vigor.
Michael Caputo said he would never serve another Republican campaign. Good for him. I do not blame him one bit.
Jury #5 had the giggles every time they talked about “Calk.”
Not true. Federal TRIALS have a 93% conviction rate, but the vast majorities of defendants plea bargain without facing a trial. Also, consider that by far the vast majorities of federal trials are for immigration- or drug-trafficking-related offenses, and that the feds don’t claim jurisdiction for actions that have both state and federal crimes unless they feel they have a rock-solid case.
