A British soldier from the elite Special Air Service has shot and killed an ISIS commander from more than a mile away, in what is thought to be the best long-range shot in the regiments 77-year history.
Using a a huge .50 Calibre Browning machine gun, which is nearly 40 years old, the unnamed sergeant, who is a veteran of Iraq and Syria, managed to hit the fighter directly in the chest with a shot that blew off the commanders arm and shoulder.
The Islamic State commander was briefing his men and clearly liked the sound of his own voice because he was standing still for a least 20 minutes while his fighters sat on the ground in front of him, a source familiar with the incident, which took place in June in Afghanistan, told The Daily Star Sunday.

Bring the British sergeant to America for a ticker-tape parade.
They say the isis commander was a little long winded. The sniper fixed that.
How old was the barrel ?
Ha! I’ll bet that took the starch out of the ISIS commander’s troops. NIce shot!
50BMG?
What’s not to like?
Didn’t realize those were used as sniper weapons or that they had a semi automatic setting.
Heads up!
Whaaaaaaaaa.............................tt????

No 100 virgins (or raisins) for you!
Truly a sad day for Obama.
Keep in mind this is from Newsweak.
They know it’s a machine gun because it’s black. I’m kind of surprised they didn’t say it was an “AK-15”.
Schweeeet!
“...in the chest with a shot that blew off the commanders arm and shoulder.”
In some “producer’s notes” for some movie (”Shooter” maybe) they were talking about the long-range sniper shot and the guy with a bullet hole in his chest.
Went something like this: “Well, our military consultant said that was all wrong. At those ranges with a .50 caliber round, it would be coming in at a very steep angle - practically vertical. A dead center hit would enter the chest and exit out his butt, cleaving the upper torso in half. We decided that would be too graphic - and the movie-goer expects a nice round hole with blood.”
Sounds about right compared with this story.
AK-50 I would think.
I suppose a military rifle that gets used more than a few rounds each year for deer hunting can wear out and they can replace the barrel. But I know the .308 rifle that my old man passed down to me is still in great shape and shoots as well as it ever did. It’s about 60 years old.
From the class’s position, it was

Boom!
Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar!

Carlos Hathcock did it in RVN way back when. The ground .50 shoots so slow it would not be hard to crank of single shots.
