"The dirty war on the free press must end."
That's the idea behind an unusual editorial-writing initiative that has enlisted scores of newspapers across America.
The Boston Globe has been contacting newspaper editorial boards and proposing a "coordinated response" to President Trump's escalating "enemy of the people" rhetoric.
"We propose to publish an editorial on August 16 on the dangers of the administration's assault on the press and ask others to commit to publishing their own editorials on the same date," The Globe said in its pitch to fellow papers.
The effort began just a few days ago.
As of Saturday, "we have more than 100 publications signed up, and I expect that number to grow in the coming days," Marjorie Pritchard, the Globe's deputy editorial page editor, told CNN.

Trump is in trouble ...
Hysterical propagandists even at work when they’ve called on it and trying to play the victim.
Throw a stone and see which dog yelps.
The business of the press is to advance population control by emotion and deliberate deception.
It's part of Democratic Socialism.
For a couple of generations, English and communication department administrators and instructors have screened out and pushed out the sane, socially healthy students. That, and the sponsors educated by the same weirdos shows us why journalists are so nutty and slutty.
The press doth protest too much, methinks.
“The dirty war on the President must end.”
These news outlets would behave exactly the same way if they were official mouthpieces of the governments of Iran or North Korea.
Now would be a great time to introduce the fairness doctrine. Editorials must say pro or con and both sides of an argument are represented. Commentary masquerading as news will be heavily fined. Violence inciting rhetoric will result in loss of license. If reporters pester instead of asking valid questions (when did you stop beating your wife?) they will lose press privileges.

Is that thing with all the brown wrinkles a pelousey or hitlary Mugshot ?
Oh damned it! My apologies to the Shar-pei Breed...
“dirty WAR on the free press”?
I guess I was asleep and missed all the government censorship and silencing/imprisonment of journalists. What’s that you say? That stuff never happened?
Oh, now I get it.”Dirty war on the free press” is actually when a President refuses to remain silent in the face of an unending torrent of abuse, and calls out his political enemies in the media for who and what they are.
Typical liberal solution. If you’re doing something wrong, forbid the criticizism.
How many of these 100 newspapers are all owned by same small group of individual? How many all speak with the same voice on every subject?
They complain about President Trump being critical, they should be more worried that their readers have abandoned them because they can no longer believe what they write.
100 newspapers make Trumps point.
The Gray Bag Lady and cohort raging at the wind.
100 worthless fishwraps and birdcage liners ...
Of which I will see exactly ZERO.
along with methane from the farts.
The headline should read “100 Dying Newspapers...”
