ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) The Latest on the bank fraud and tax evasion trial of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort (all times local): 10:50 a.m. The judge in Paul Manafort's trial has called a recess without explanation. U.S. District Judge T. S. Ellis lll huddled with attorneys from Special Counsel Robert Mueller's office and Manafort's defense lawyers, as well as court security officers, for more than 20 minutes before calling the recess. The judge then exited the courtroom toward the jury room. The recess comes as prosecutors are preparing to finish their case Friday. Manafort faces charges of bank fraud and tax evasion.

You think Manafort has a chance or doesn’t have a chance to escape prosecution by the Deep State?
You’re welcome.
If the prosecution believes that the judge's remarks have prejudiced the jury against them, then a mistrial would help them. New judge, new jury, fresh start. On the down side, the defense has seen the prosecutions case and would have more time to prepare. It all depends whether they think the judge's bias has caused more damage than a new trial would cause. At the end of the day, it's mainly a paper case. They have the tax records. They have the bank loans. They have the fraud documented. The defense can't change that.
But was there “intent” to commit a crime...Hillary destroyed physical evidence under subpoena, but they just couldn’t find the intent to commit a crime.
I’m guessing that the Deep State has found something on the judge, and is going to John Roberts the guy.
That’s how they roll.
Cibolo Creek Ranch worked out badly for Scalia. I hope this judge doesn’t go there.
Mueller has asked for the judge to be removed.
Or they’ll move for a mistrial.
"reliance" is a key element of civil and criminal fraud. Furthermore criminal fraud requires demonstration of criminal intent, e.g. did he intend to take the money and run rather than pay it back per the terms of the loan.
We need not go there, however because the bank rejected the application and therefore did not rely on it. Whatever your view of Manafort's effort, he took nothing from the bank.
Judge needs a aspirin, Prosecution needs their shot of whiskey.
Signing a loan application knowing that the information is false? Signing tax forms knowing you made false statements? Both show intent to defraud.
Rumor is a juror misconduct issue.
Perhaps it has to do with the lawyer the judge appointed to redact Mueller’s evidence. Maybe he saw something he wasn’t supposed to see and told the judge.
Perhaps someone on the prosecution team has realized that to a jury, a jury no doubt made up of people well versed in accounting, Manafort may be looking more like the victim of manipulated accounting than like someone who was manipulating the money.
I hope the judge throws the whole damn thing out of court and declares a mistrial. And censures Mueller.
If you layer in Rudy’s comments that the entire Mueller Mole Hill is about to dramatically implode into a black sink hole, maybe the judge was tipped off to stall this sham trial while the underlying dung heap fails to act as a solid foundation. And, yes, I love mixed metaphors.
They had to RECESS to consider this BREAKING NEWS: It is worth noting that both Disqus and Fakebook CENSOR any mention of a website, www.CodeIsFreeSpeech.com that provides FREE downloads of 3D-printable firearm blueprints. And, since Facebook logins are so prevalent for posting commentary across the Internet, they are very effectively suppressing this Forbidden knowledge almost EVERYWHERE. Please go to the website, download some or all 10 of the free blueprints, and then, repost it to your friends and across the Internet, to the extent you can. Strike a BLOW against Fakebook and judicial CENSORSHIP! Support TWO amendments at once, the First and the Second!
I was being facetious.
You are correct. But there is a good reason not to spend time on the Citizen’s Bank loan: It is not referenced in the indictment. Judge Ellis didn’t say it directly, but I think he was questioning why the prosecution is spending court time presenting evidence about a crime that is not in the indictment.
At the prosecution’s request, a Grand Jury indicted Manafort for loan fraud involving two specific loans that were consummated/funded. The prosecution claims to have evidence that Manafort made false representations to get the loans approved and spent the loan funds other than as agreed. Telling them to stick to evidence that relates to the case on trial seems reasonable.
Manafort is dealing with EVIL evil people who have the back of a jury who could very well be compromised by the mediapukes almost two year Russian campaign against trump with their constant vitriol and hatred they spew every freakin day! I believe the jury has been brainwashed to believe Trump is on trial here via Manafort! So yes I believe he will be sentenced to prison out of sheer hatred for the president!
