Ohio Race Just Got Even Closer as Hundreds of Uncounted Votes Discovered

Election officials in Ohio found 588 uncounted votes Wednesday in a suburb of Columbus, county officials said.

After counting the ballots, Republican Troy Balderson received 198 votes; Democrat Danny O’Connor got 388 votes; and Joe Manchik, 2 votes. Thus, O’Connor gained 190 on Balderson, who currently leads by 1,564 votes in the close race.

“The votes from a portion of one voting location had not been processed into the tabulation system,” officials explained. “Election night results are tabulated through the use of a device called a master PEB that is returned to the Board along with flash drives from each machine. The Griswold Center voting location had two master PEB’s, only one of which was read and processed into the tabulation system on Election Night. The additional votes identified during this preliminary audit will be reflected in the final official results certified by the Board of Elections on August 24th.”

While Balderson declared victory Tuesday night, O’Connor said in a tweet celebrating Wednesday's discovery that he is holding out for all votes to be counted.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, 3,435 provisional ballots and 5,048 absentee ballots will be counted by the August 24 deadline.

Right, pretty stupid for a seat that will have to be defended again in November. The rats seem to be going over the edge as though they are having some collective psychotic break. Not good as they are one of the two major parties. The usual manner in which pols have proceeded since political parties really emerged during the era of Andrew Jackson seem to being discarded. Without engaging in a poly sci discourse there are some very disturbing parallels between today and the period 1852 to 1860. And no I am not embracing the Lincoln saved us all mantra. The politicians lost their heads and went a bit crazy in pursuing sectional and party ambition and they summoned up the storm of the Civil War. That's all I am saying.

seriously, guys, the question is what was the original report from this location.

IF all the other precincts in this area were voting about 30% of their registration, and IF this precinct reports, say, 500 votes out of 3000 registered, THEN it is reasonable that they just didn't pull the stick for a second machine and you end up with c. 1000 votes out of 3000. Just a screw up

BUT IF the precinct already reported 500 votes out of 1500, say, and NOW you want to count an ADDITIONAL 588 from the same location -- WHOA!
