That statement might be true during a primary, but Ted Cruz said it at the convention, after Trump had already secured the nomination. It was a despicable, divisive thing to say, and most people saw it as such.

Supporters like you aren't doing the senator any favors. I told you that he was my first choice, and that he was the first politician I'd ever sent money to, but none of that matters. I'm disappointed in the guy, and for that, you condemn me to hell.
