Tonight, the Ohio special election widely seen as a referendum on President Donald Trump reaches its conclusion.
Republican Troy Balderson is running with Trumps endorsement in a district the president won by 11 points in 2016. Hes running for a seat that has been held by a Republican since 1983, but his Democratic opponent, Danny OConnor, is running surprisingly close to him. Hes a moderate Republican who supports a pathway to citizenship for so-called Dreamers and wants any Obamacare replacement to include pre-existing conditions regulations.
OConnor has positioned himself as a moderate Democrat, pledging that if elected he would not vote for Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the House. Recent polling has the race in a statistical tie.
If the OConnor wins, or if Balderson wins narrowly, the media narrative will be that Trump is no king-maker and he cant save the Republican Party from an oncoming blue wave in November.

Either way, the news will be anti-Trump, of course. Either Troy lost a GOP district that we won by 11% in 2016, or Troy won by less than 1% in that district. No matter what, on the #FakeNews, it will be Trump’s fault.

If he wins by even one vote, they can spin all they want. It is still an R seat and vote. And a D loss.

Balderson 741 up with 95 percent reporting.

This is true.
However a (R) win is still a win for the (R)books.
Let CNN and MSNBC suck on that big one....

They indeed can spin all they want. A law professor, referring to the cut score for a bar exam, once told me “65 percent is an A-plus.” Balderson up a fraction of one percent is an A-plus.

Govenor Rhodes would be proud. Lose the city but offset it in the country side
To: RedMonqey
Franklin County has reported all her votes and Balderson is winning with Delaware County STILL has precints to report.

7 precincts remaining, about 3,300 votes if these are the same size as the others. Troy leads by 1,700 votes. That’s still within the margin of fraud, but only barely.

Balderson was fighting not only democrats but one of the worst RINOs ever, the governor Kasich.

“Balderson was fighting not only democrats but one of the worst RINOs ever, the governor Kasich.”
Bingo. Kasich sucks bigtime. Balderson is the winner by the hair of his chinny chin chin. As to O’Connor, “almost” only counts in horseshoes.
