WASHINGTON — The Trump administration is expected to issue a proposal in coming weeks that would make it harder for legal immigrants to become citizens or get green cards if they have ever used a range of popular public welfare programs, including Obamacare, four sources with knowledge of the plan told NBC News.
The move, which would not need congressional approval, is part of White House senior adviser Stephen Miller's plan to limit the number of migrants who obtain legal status in the U.S. each year.
Details of the rulemaking proposal are still being finalized, but based on a recent draft seen last week and described to NBC News, immigrants living legally in the U.S. who have ever used or whose household members have ever used Obamacare, children's health insurance, food stamps and other benefits could be hindered from obtaining legal status in the U.S.

I believe there are still laws on the books requiring the government to refuse admission to new immigrants who appear likely to become a “public charge”.
Also, most new immigrants are required to have a sponsor who accepts financial responsibility for them.
They are also prohibited by law from receiving public welfare or other assistance for a period of time (several years).
Of course these laws are have been, and still are, ignored by the “Deep State” One-Worlders running the federal government.

My daughter - a lib extremist professor - has already been screaming about this this morning. Sounds fake. There’s no rational reason for the change.
At this point the USA has been flooded so All immigration needs to stop for may decades IMO.

What about citizenship?
I was born in New Zealand...NZ has had free medical for decades...it was like that when I was a child...regardless of the patient’s income...
I IMMIGRATED to the US and became an American citizen...
we went back for a visit a few years later while I was pregnant making it necessary for me to go to my mother’s doctor for my regular checkup...I had all sorts of expensive tests and the use of expensive machinery that would had cost an arm and a leg here...the doctor said since I was not a NZ citizen I could not have it all free so he had to charge me something...It all cost me $5...
and that sponsor is in trouble if he or she renegs on the promise to support the IMMIGRANT...if the IMMIGRANT goes on gov bennies the gov is suppose to ask the sponsor why and demand an answer...the sponsor is suppose to be held responsible...
What happened to that ???

NZ has had free medical for decades.
Medical care in the United States is expensive for a number of reasons, but primarily because it is a mixed system with lots of government mandates and overhead costs. Much of the health care is also “free” in that third parties, either and insurance company or the government pays for it.
In the U.S., you see how much the health care costs.
I didn’t say the taxpayers weren’t paying for it...I was pointing out that EVERYONE gets “free” medical” regardless of income...
We were both in the military at that time making good money...
The question was not were we low income enough to qualify..it was were we NZ citizens ??? I don’t think illegal aliens got free anything in NZ at that time..
