Investigators searching for Mollie Tibbetts in Iowa have discovered the body of a young white woman in her 20s, but they do not believe it to be the missing college student, whose whereabouts remain a mystery more than two weeks after she vanished.
The unidentified womans remains were found in Lee County, about 100 miles southeast of Brooklyn, where Tibbetts was last seen jogging on July 18. The Iowa Department of Public Safety, however, said they have no reason to believe the body is that of Tibbetts.
Officials have vetted more than 200 anonymous tips and have searched numerous areas in the search for the University of Iowa psychology major.
Law enforcement officials have repeatedly combed through fields and hog farms in Deep River, Iowa, about a 20-minute drive from where Tibbetts was last seen, but have declined to say why they are focusing on those areas.
As leads come in, and information is evaluated, the investigative team responds to those and prioritizes those," Iowa Department of Public Safety official Kevin Winker told CBS News. I would expect those searches to continue."
Farm owner Wayne Cheney reportedly told Fox News he was questioned at least two times by investigators, whom he has allowed to search his property and cellphone, but said he would not take a polygraph test.
"I don't even remember what they asked me," he told WHO-TV of his interactions with law enforcement, noting he did not know Tibbetts. "It was a waste of my time, I know that."

Yes, he was in Ames visiting his fiance if I recall correctly. About 2 hours from there...maybe a little less.
And I thought Iowa was a safe state! Missouri I can understand, sadly.
Almost 25 years ago there was a highly publicized disappearance of a 27 year old female TV news reporter from Mason City, IA, which is about 100 miles north of Brooklyn, Iowa.
What’s behind claims of reports about a rash of missing persons in Iowa?

Thanks for this important information and sources about missing children and adults nationwide.
All Freepers should read it to see how “missing persons” are reported and what happens to most of them (i.e. returning).
Still, we need to be aware of our surroundings, the people in it, crime trends, gangs, and young people with adjustment or personal relations problems.
We must protect our young people and often an alert adult can help say a life.
Here’s what I was referring to. Another article, though, said that the investigation at the truck stop was inconclusive, and that the reported sighting by only one person wasn’t corroborated by other witnesses or video.
Mollie Tibbetts possibly spotted at Kansas City-area truck stop last week, police say

Yes. And many women who must work in isolating circumstances should learn self-defense (both armed and unarmed, lethal and less than lethal), escape, evasion, and make contingency plans with relatives, friends and/or neighbors. And always carry a phone, transmitter, etc.
Happened in Jacksonville as well. Authorities looking for a missing child found two deceased men in the woods, both unrelated to each other. Suicides, I believe.
One of them was a service member who had been listed AWOL and as such, his family wasn't receiving any veterans benefits.
FWIW There was a MAP of *routes* known taken by ?criminals, of the country, showing various but esp as from the SW as mexico, up across the country to Canada.
Not sure but I think it went up thru this area. So something to consider: there are border crossings for bad reasons, but with these known routes, anything [convenient] could be happening along the route also.
I saw the MAP posted on the Q thread at the time of that purported discovery of where traffickers were holding children by the cement company.
I hope she is found alive and rescuable.
The Lee County case had nothing to do with Mollie.
The guy turned himself in and was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident resulting in a death.

OTOH, there have been half a dozen of girls/young women in Iowa out walking/jogging who have had kidnapping attempts on them in the days around when Mollie disappeared.
IMO, she was taken by someone known to her. Perhaps they pulled along side her during the jog before she got to her mother’s for dinner and she willingly got into the vehicle with them. I think the hog farmer is just a suspect of convenience for the LEOs and he had nothing to do with it.
The LEOs aren’t giving out any info so can’t tell if they know anything or not. The msm, through their own made up fake news or sloppiness can’t agree on much of anything in this case. They’re reporting is all over the page contradicting each other and themselves.
One scenario could be someone didn’t want the wedding to happen.
The FBI and the Iowa Crime Dept. were both called into Mollie’s case at the beginning.
For a week, the story reported by all the msm as that boyfriend Dalton Jack, his brother Blake Jack (owner of Jack Building Design construction company) and Blake’s fiance Allie Houghton all left for a job in Dubuque two days before. Then the story changed to Blake was in Ames visiting his fiance. But it’s still being said all three live in Blake’s house in Brooklyn. https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/investigators-update-public-search-iowa-student-56938644
Whatever, supposedly they’ve all been cleared by the LEs.
The LEs haven’t been telling much (if they even know anything) and the msm is making up so much that it’s anyone’s guess what’s what. First, she was snatched on a job. Then she made it back to the bf’s house safe and sound and was doing homework for a summer college class late that night on her computer. Then her jogging stuff is missing. Then her work shirt was missing and a similar shirt (or random trash) was found. Then her work shirts were found at home. The next morning, her brother texts to ask if she needs a ride home. Home? Is that more stupid reporter tricks and he really asked if she needed a ride to work since they share a car or does he know she spent the night somewhere else shucking her dogsitting duties?
The FBI brought in dogs and helecopters to search the corn fields.
Interesting article on using infared cameras. When maggots come in to feed, their heat will show up. https://www.heraldlive.co.za/news/2018-07-16-this-is-how-infrared-cameras-and-maggots-are-solving-murders/
Thanks for the information.
Odd thing is, the feds tell him when they’re coming back in advance. He told FOX last week they would be back Sunday, which they were but only stayed 5-10 minutes. Giving him a timeframe might make him nervous enough to move a body and they can catch him at. Or he’s just a convenient slub with a record. His record is stalking an ex violating a restraining order by calling her or confronting her on the street. That doesn’t sound like kidnapping a stranger out jogging. He also doesn’t do his shopping in Brooklyn though that doesn’t mean he wasn’t there. No one knows because the feds won’t say when or where or when her last electronic data ended.
He sold the pig farm facility to Prestage Farms five or six years ago though still has 70 acres which he let be searched on the cops’ first trip there. He also gave them his phone overnight and answered their questions without lawyering up. Don’t know for sure if he still have any pigs. His land is a mile from a federal reserve but then so are a lot of properties. And there’s a lake with weekend rentals north of Brooklyn which I’ve not heard of any searches being carried out there - of course, that would put a major dent into the local economy so we can’t have that. Much better publicity for that to concentrate on a pig farmer 15 miles to the south.
