Investigators searching for Mollie Tibbetts in Iowa have discovered the body of a young white woman in her 20s, but they do not believe it to be the missing college student, whose whereabouts remain a mystery more than two weeks after she vanished.
The unidentified woman’s remains were found in Lee County, about 100 miles southeast of Brooklyn, where Tibbetts was last seen jogging on July 18. The Iowa Department of Public Safety, however, said they have no reason to believe the body is that of Tibbetts.
Officials have vetted more than 200 anonymous tips and have searched numerous areas in the search for the University of Iowa psychology major.
Law enforcement officials have repeatedly combed through fields and hog farms in Deep River, Iowa, about a 20-minute drive from where Tibbetts was last seen, but have declined to say why they are focusing on those areas.
“As leads come in, and information is evaluated, the investigative team responds to those and prioritizes those," Iowa Department of Public Safety official Kevin Winker told CBS News. “I would expect those searches to continue."
Farm owner Wayne Cheney reportedly told Fox News he was questioned at least two times by investigators, whom he has allowed to search his property and cellphone, but said he would not take a polygraph test.
"I don't even remember what they asked me," he told WHO-TV of his interactions with law enforcement, noting he did not know Tibbetts. "It was a waste of my time, I know that."

Sure Wayne. Although I suppose the cops might have figured “Wayne!? It’s always a Wayne - lets go talk to him.”
So, let us try to narrow a few facts down, from the excellent reporting:

And this body has been found in Lee County.

OK.

So whose is it?

There have been a few of these in Iowa over the last several years. I remember when those two young girls disappeared while riding their bikes.
I hope they don’t have the Iowa version of the BTK killer.
It’s not looking good. Still hoping for a happy ending.
Meanwhile, her dad needs to stop giving so many interviews.
The family are always seen as suspects until a sufficient alibi rules them out. I know the parents have to be suffering.
Makes it sound like they are relieved it isn’t her but the bad news that isn’t being treated as seriously bad news is that some other young woman who disappeared has been discovered to be dead.
The boyfriend’s brother lived at the house she lived at? And the wedding of the brother cancelled?
There was to be a press conference today (Tues 7 Aug) they have now changed it to Friday.
She was a nursing student...with a bad boyfriend, it would seem.
The wedding was a “destination” wedding (I think in the Dominican Republic). Mollie & her boyfriend were supposed to go with the brother/girlfriend. They canceled it because...obviously.
Missouri,Iowa,Kansas, all close and it’s easy to make time why traveling in those rural areas.

This guy was told not to talk to the press by the police. The police would have asked him not to discuss the specifics of their conversation. And if he had a lawyer that lawyer would have told him not to take a lie detector, at least until he could check out the questions. However the police seem to come back to this guy a few times. So they have something.
I’m sure there is a lot that we are not being told and with this other body found they may be rethinking strategies. FBI involved?

I know, Mollie was supposed to be the maid of honor, the wedding was to be in Dominican, yes. Where is the brother who was also living at the house? He may have been gone since Mollie was dog sitting, but was he?
