A reverend says a black doll found hanging from a makeshift noose in a Philadelphia playground was apparently staged by a group of kids who wanted to creep people out.
Police say they received a 911 call around noon after a city worker found a black doll hanging from a telephone wire with a makeshift noose around its neck at the Weccacoe Playground at 4th and Queen Streets.

If you did any of that on/near a black church or hoe/community center, I am sure it would be labelled a hate crime.
For a person of color in the country, I would say theres really no place I would go and say, Oh, in this place, I know Im safe.
this from a guy that knows a bunch of tweeners did this for kicks...
If ya believe that, you’ll believe anything. No sale.
I used tie hangman’s nooses all the time. I just thought it was cool knot. All of my window shades draw strings has them. I would tie tgem on my pencils at school. We just grew up watching a lot of westerns and the thought that this was racially insensitive never occurred to me then or now.
They just have to get it together.
It show that racism has to be taught.
These kids did not know about lynching of blacks..
There were both while and black kids in on it..
Yes, you missed that America is becoming more and more unhinged!
‘Never, EVER end your sentences with a preposition’
I can’t imagine how people keep doing this; it’s one of the worst things we have to put up with...
I think I learned how to tie a regulation noose (9 or 11 wraps) before I learned to tie my shoes! “Hanging” neighborhood girl’s dolls was not as fun as lighting their (the doll’s) hair on fire though!
By today’s standards it probably would get the perp a 30 year prison sentence, and the playground would have to be demolished and turned into a $10 million “Cultural Awareness Center” to mitigate the triggeredness.

‘Im surprised they were able to tie the noose.;
probably tied it better than the Nurenberg executioner, think his name is Woods, who admitted that stringing up Nazis brought a big smile to his face...
“I used to tie hangman’s nooses all the time.”
Yeah, me too. But that was back in the 50’s, when there were real violent racist crimes to worry about.
When you were a kid? This aint when you were a “Kid”. Ya don’t think think these kids have a clue about what the correlation or connection depicting a black doll hung from a tree?
No one can be this naive. Get real.
Of course the kids knew what they were doing. The overlying fact is the kids did it for the shock factor and do not care what others think. They're juveniles playing a juvenile game knowing nothing happens to their age group. They got their reactions their prank targeted and they'll be back on their xbox tonite.
I guess regulations differed from state to state to state. I was taught that the traditional noose for execution by hanging by the neck until dead was 13 coils. I was told both that the execution's noose was a slip knot and that it was a fixed knot, like a bowline, designed to break the condemned prisoner's neck.
Don't forget - they are children until until age 26 under the Obamacare law!
The press ran to cover because it supports their hatred of traditional Americans. Somewhere a New York Times reporter is crying... his editor too.
I’m saying that when I was their age I was definitely motivated to do that sort of thing. Maybe you weren’t. But I can certainly relate.
Do I think they have a clue about the correlation? You bet. But only a clue. And it is something that happened generations before they were born. Put those two things together, and you end up with what happened.
You may have lived a different childhood than me (or them). So all I can speak for is myself. And yes, I can imagine doing things like that. And I can even imagine admitting it because it would have been no big deal, at least to me. And then a responsible adult would have explained why it IS a big deal.
And it would have been much easier, by a couple of orders of magnitude, to do it when I was doing it with some friends. We did some crazy stuff even into our late teens. But at least it was more and more politically correct, but perhaps more physically dangerous (one involving a water tower, a cigarette and an M-80).
