Cultural-appropriation of food is not OK so I won’t be watching Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted
UK Metro ^ | 8/3/18 | Sejal Sukhadwala

(snip) According to the press release, National Geographic’s Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted, scheduled to air next year, promises ‘three key ingredients: unlocking a culture’s culinary secrets through exploration and adventure with local food heroes; tracking down high-octane traditions, pastimes and customs that are specific to the region in hopes of discovering the undiscovered; and, finally, testing Ramsay against the locals, pitting his own interpretations of regional dishes against the tried-and-true classics.’

Let’s look at all three elements.

The first two are about a sweary, loud-mouthed chef with little understanding of a country’s cuisine, traipsing around with a camera crew, ‘discovering’ their centuries-old ‘culinary secrets’, traditions and customs.

And let’s not forget the bit about ‘local food heroes’ – but why not ask the said heroes to front their own TV show? Why does it take a white chef to ‘discover’ their cuisine and present it as if it were a spectator sport?

Let the experts speak about their own food, let them tell their own stories and please, let’s not turn this into entertainment to prod, poke and point a finger at.

The ‘undiscovered’ has remained undiscovered – to a foreign audience anyway – precisely because the so-called ‘natives’ have been given little opportunity to talk about it.

It’s the third part of the statement that’s had everyone riled though.

Not just tomatoes but polenta [maize] and potatoes and spicy peppers and most varieties of beans, amaranth and quinoa.

Andrew Zimmern is great at going to foreign countries and embracing the local culture. He lets the locals explain their foods and watches them prepare the food, before eating whatever it is and describing the taste. He often goes fishing, hunting and harvesting with the locals to gather ingredients for the meals. It’s a great program to learn about various cultures around the world.

“National Geographic’s Gordon Ramsay”

The National Geographic was once a great magazine of exploration, and Science for the layman. I grew up with it as a child and it made me go to many of the places they wrote about. I eagerly awaited each publication and the wonderful Maps that were included. It was a most grand and worthy publication. This is no more.

The internal political correctness of the left has destroyed this once great publication.

I have degrees in Geology, Chemistry and Pharmacy. I consider myself a scientist. The articles that the Geographic have published about global warming are mostly crap science. Sadly Scientific America has done the same. The left in these magazines have turned them into political magazines and no longer of real science.

“Jim, the Magazines are dead,” per Dr. McCoy.

I am sooo riled that I may have to take a nap.

The comments at the article are definitely against the columnist.

A third generation Italian who owns a deli gave me his family’s sauce recipe. Takes a minimum of three hours to make.

Gordon Ramsay needs to stick to sorting out “Kitchen Nightmares.”

If Western man hadn’t wanted a direct route to India, China, Japan and the Spice Islands, he would never have discovered the New World. If Christopher Columbus could reach these lands, he would be able to “appropriate” rich cargoes of silks and spices. Thank God we didn’t have these nasty Cultural Marxists to their stick a finger into the discovery.

Cultural appropriation is such a low brow concept, as if I can’t eat tex-mex because I’m a buckeye.

Yea, I won’t watch because Ramsey is an ass. A talented one but an ass on an epic scale.

There was no talk about “cultural appropriation” about 2 years ago. It’s just the latest synonym for “You Whites are racist even if you deny it.”

It’s not over. There will be something else after “cultural appropriation.” The point is to beat Whites into submission, forcing them to their knees, beating their chests in pathetic cries for forgiveness.
