Police: Armed bystander takes down gunman at Titusville back to school event (Florida)

An armed bystander shot a man who open-fired on a back to school event at a Titusville park following a fistfight, police said.

The shooting occurred at Isaac Campbell Park on South Street shortly after 5:20 p.m. when the shooter, whom police have not identified, returned to the park after a fistfight and began firing.

A bystander licensed to a carry a firearm then shot the shooter, who was flown to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The bystander who shot the suspect waited for officers and has been fully cooperative with the investigation, police said.

After consulting with the State Attorney’s office, detectives do not expect to file charges against the bystander since his actions were within the law, according to the preliminary investigation, police said.

Hogg probably beside himself that someone would act instead of waiting 10-15 minutes for the police. Or, maybe he is thankful he has armed security babysitting him when he is out and about.

We just got back from the range, boys now settling down to play Fortnite with some friends. Makes me wonder his Hogg is in his basement playing games like this, Halo, and others. How does he reconcile that with his anti-gun rhetoric?

I get what you're putting down, but it's not the cops job to be everywhere to stop a crime in progress. That's why it's important for law abiding citizens to have the ability to defend themselves. In the vast majority of violent crimes, the police can only take a report, investigate, and hopefully make an arrest. The armed citizen here is probably lucky the cops were NOT there, as they would quite likely have shot him.
