Israel claims the Syrian civil war is effectively over — and President Assad is back in control

Israel claimed Syria's long-running civil war had effectively come to an end Thursday and predicted the Golan Heights frontier between the two countries would be much quieter over the coming months.

Syrian President Bashar Assad has sought to restore central rule in several southwestern areas of the country in recent weeks, with a particular focus on reclaiming Golan Heights — an area of strategic and political significance for both Damascus and Jerusalem.

"From our perspective, the situation is returning to how it was before the civil war, meaning there is a real address, someone responsible, and central rule," Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman told reporters on Thursday.

For Israel Assad is no longer the enemy as the Iranians in Syria have become separate entity over which Assad probably has no real control.

Assad has no control over the Iranians at all. Putin, on the other hand, can tell the Iranians what to do. Just a matter of who really wants to throw down. He doesn’t want to have to pressure them, and they would get utterly wrecked if shooting started.

All the same, Israel is saying that Assad regaining power helps their security.

"Very interesting development. The Israeli defense minister has also said something to the effect that Assad regaining power enhances Israel’s security."

* Yes it does, Mop up job of the Despots that threaten them.
* Note Jared's 6 state tour about a month ago now to discuss M.E. Peace.
* And Bibi Meets w/ Putin
* then PDJT meets with Putin ( get him aboard the deal, let him save face, give him something, warm water port perhaps )
* Thomas Wictor on Twitter keeps telling us of the GSC mopping up the Iranian despots in Yemen.
* Iran is financially in the tank w/ the sanctions and the Mullah's are on their last leg before it collapses and maybe becomes Persia Again.

Can you say "Yuge" M.E. Peace Deal on the Horizon and the P.A. will have to come to the table when Iran stops sending them money?

I think you have laid out a very plausible scenario. Jared is very close with Bibi. That trip wasn’t for nothing, nor was Bibi’s visit with Putin. Trump is changing the game, and the deep state is having a hard time keeping up.

ISIS was President Idiot’s “Freedom Fighters.” He also called them “Moderate Muslims.”

Don't give obammy all the credit. John McCain worked hard to create, arm and fund ISIS too.

The man he said we had nothing to fear from, has been revealed for having done many many things we should have feared.

I was enraged when he said that. The stupid F*** just revealed he never took the threat of Obama seriously. Perhaps if he had realized what a horrible threat Obama was, he would have actually put up a fight.

What happened to Arab Spring, Regime Change, Democracy, Free Elections, Free Speech and Press?

Seemed pretty clear at the time just who was behind the "Arab Spring", and that it was just about replacing existing secular dictators with Islamist dictators. Luckily, the militaries were mostly secular, and mostly crushed the Muslim Brotherhood, ISIS, and Al Queda backed uprising.

Back to ISIS?

Syria/Russia has and will eliminate that stain.

It is a rather different attitude toward that expressed not so long ago. I might say that Israel has “realized” something but I believe to a certainty that Israel is totally aware of the current circumstances and changes its own stance without delay when the situation changes; rather as Trump does.

Yes they will be floored when it happens more than the NK deal which was a pre-cursor to split the bad boys up. Progressives ( especially of Jewish decent of which I am close too, and I don't say it to insult them etc ) will probably loose their minds that this guy got it done. Either that or it will be a grand awaking for them. Buy stock in Duct Tape, copious amounts will be needed to wrap CNN's talking heads craniums from liberating into tiny pieces....

Israel may be going through a parallel swamp draining of its own. Hard to say. Reliable information is at a premium.

Please do tell or like you said reliable info is at a premium. It must be a curse of man, Gov't systems tend to allow certain humans to behave badly, no matter what system they are in, they can game it if the are not men or women of character or conviction...

I wish I knew. I think Israel is a tough case. I do think Israelites are the chosen people, but I also think they are stiff-necked.

In fact, they act a lot like preacher’s kids sometimes do. Many times they are the worst.

I believe Bibi is the real deal. I think 45 is communicating with him regularly. I also think Putin was very afraid the DS in this country was going to light a match on the nuclear powderkeg.

I think they did realize something. They realized that chaos on their border was not in anyone’s best interest when that chaos is Iran and not ISIS, and that Trump can influence/control Putin, and that Putin can influence/control the Iranians. Russia’s incursion to support Assad was a complete game-changer. Whoever wanted chaos got their plans set afire when that happened. If Trump and Putin want stability, that’s what will happen, unless the deep state can bring down Trump.

Right, that’s what the scriptures say: there will be a skirmish in Syria and everybody goes home.

The Germans should be happy.

Merkel’s mistakes can be sent back home.

But will they want to go home? German welfare benefits are much more generous than anything in Syria. In Syria, all these military age males would have to get a job or go hungry.
