Why did we have to get the chip cards again?

To prevent card fraud?

But now we can just program the phone to be the fraudulent card.

Hmm.

Ooh. I know. Let’s put a CHIP in PEOPLE. Problem solved.

Let's put a CHIP in people. Problem solved.

With a few refinements. Put GPS on that chip, then transition to a cashless society. All problems solved.

” I know. Let’s put a CHIP in PEOPLE.”

I’ve put thousands of chips in me over the years, the last time at lunch the other day.

Put that chip in your hand, and how long will it be before thieves start amputating hands to rob ATMs?

Ooh. I know. Let’s put a CHIP in PEOPLE. Problem solved.

Not necessary, as long as people carry a phone (smart or dumb).

I have bad news for you. The chip is completely passe. Between facial recognition, iris scans, and electronic fingerprint scanning, you can already be identified with something approaching absolute certainty. The "chip" is already in your body; you were born with it.

Actually a lot goes into getting the card in the phone. Especially given that we chinced out on the chips and they aren’t nearly as secure as they should be (ie as they have been everywhere else for 20 years) the phone is actually probably more secure.
