REDDING, Calif. (KCRA)
A large fire whirl that developed last week in Redding as a wildfire moved through the city created winds equivalent to an EF-3 tornado, the National Weather Service-Sacramento said Thursday.
NWS and a Cal Fire Serious Accident Review Team conducted a damage survey, which preliminarily found that the whirl reached maximum wind speeds exceeding 143 mph.
The whirl was produced between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on July 26 as the wildfire burning in Shasta County moved into the city. The Carr Fire, which ignited July 23 in Whiskeytown near Highway 299, has claimed six lives and destroyed more than 1,500 structures.

Imagine an EF-3 tornado, but the wind is 1500-2000 deg.
It ignites whatever it touches, even briefly, and melts cars to the road.
Scary video at the link of a small fire swirl.

Imagine an EF-3 tornado, but the wind is 1500-2000 deg. That's not where the EF-3 winds were. The strongest winds ripped off roofs and downed trees. Those were all unburned.

The fire created large updrafts some of which spiraled into tornadoes. The incoming winds reached EF-3 strength and tore off the roofs and downed the trees. Those were not burned because they were not in the fire, just nearby.

This defies known ‘science.’
Tornadoes are commonly known as “cold core” storms.

It was an accident. Caused by a flat tire on a trailer. Sparking from the rim ignited grass.

Tornadoes are violent low pressure rotations that desend from the storm clouds. The firestorm is created by the heated air in a violent updraft that forms a whirlwind as it rises. Completly opposite occurances that look similar and wreak havoc on the ground.
I live in Kansas and will stick with the ones that are NOT made out of fire.
