Congressional Republicans keep trying to downplay the possibility of a government shutdown this fall, just weeks ahead of midterm elections, even as President Trump returns again and again to that very scenario.
"I don't care what the political ramifications are," tweeted Trump on Tuesday, "our immigration and border security have been a complete and total disaster for decades, and there is no way that the Democrats will allow it to be fixed without a Government Shutdown..."
Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump I dont care what the political ramifications are, our immigration laws and border security have been a complete and total disaster for decades, and there is no way that the Democrats will allow it to be fixed without a Government Shutdown... 12:33 PM - Jul 31, 2018
Trump has repeatedly said this week he would force the government to shut down if Democrats do not agree to significant increases in border spending, including money to build a wall along the southern border with Mexico, along with changes to the legal immigration system.

Perhaps they ought better consider the warnings from President Trump - the current head of the GOP and the so-called “leaders”...
It has little to do with the faux issues that the media and Leftwing factions of either party raise. It is all about preserving the heritage the Founding Fathers vouched safe to us.
Whether those coming in have some virtues to off set their illegal entry, or not; it is very clear from their public demonstrations and other observable behavior, that they simply do not share--and do not intend to accept--the unique values that led to our Constitutional Federation.
The issue comes simply down to whether we have the will to preserve the unique political & social culture, all of us who have sworn to uphold the Constitution, are duty bound to preserve.
An American Immigration Policy.
Leftist War On Social Continuity
What is needed is for the President to go on television in a series of fireside speech formats, and explain our unique culture, and how the unvetted migrants display their contempt for & indifference to the purposes from which that heritage grew. Such broadcasts should be in a fatherly tone, acknowledging the profound difference between being good neighbors & allowing your neighbors to replace your family & family values in your own homeland.

No...Trump is squeezing the RINOs and will get everything he wants! Gubmint Shutdown is their Kryptonite and he knows it!
See my reply #42. (Your phrase “Bush League Republicans” is very apt.) They are not intellectually up to the job the Founders envisioned—not by a country mile. “Corrupted dolts” would be my term.
The GOP has leaders?
Who knew?
The so-called Republican leaders simply do not understand the real issue on stopping the flood over the border.

Agree with everything but this.
They fully understand.
They fully understand that they have been purposely allowing the flood of fraudulently documented foreigners to dilute the votes of real Americans.
The illegal alien inundation was intentional.
I think that George Washington and the Continental Army camped at Valley Forge during the winter of 1777-1778. General Washington and the Continental Army crossed the frozen Delaware River the night of December 25th-26th 1776 to attack and defeat the Hessians at Trenton, New Jersey. Different times, different places.

For example consider this two generation effort at betrayal:
The Cousins--and like influences on American education in deliberately turning susceptible types into anti-patriots--have been substantial over the past two generations. But some of the rhino types are simply too stupid to understand what the real consequences of their "going along" to "get along" with the Academic/Media complex is accomplishing.
Consider, for example, "W's" speech on immigration in 2006:
Reply to President Bush on Immigration.
Yes, he has different priorities. But his argument is too ignorant to be accidental. He does not understand causation. That is also his guru Karl Rove's limitation.
The priority to the entire Bush clan and their minions is to turn the USA into North Mexico.
LOL, What an utter disaster that would be, Trump doesn't do that stuff, he does 'rah rah' rallies.
I hope Trump uses the rallies to motivate people to turn out in November by convincing others that the movement is still there despite all the negative press.
Trump can't get that from a radio/TV address where everyone listens in isolation from one another.

You may not have watched, but he has had several very effective uses of the format, just without the fireplace. TV is at its best, as an effective media, when you can study the speakers demeanor in a quieter, but more truly earnest & thus creditable format, with quiet intonations, etc.
There is no downside.
Polls clearly show we are in favor of shutdown.
He communicates to us over the heads of the MSM and we and he laugh at them.
Republicans still gain senate and house seats with a shutdown.
It will prove services are not lost if shutdown.
PDJT will Tweet and expose those liars who try to shut stuff down...i.e., e.g., Obama closed things...PDJT will NOT DO THAT if shut down
Ergo, no downside.
I’ve watched few of these interviews, but not many people do.
Trump has changed the world in many ways already, fireside ‘chats’ are things of yesteryear.
Rallies are where the excitement, people, and viewers are.
The rally speech has impact, indeed, but the maximum effect by far is on those in the crowd, not second hand viewers in the home.
The reason the TV format is seldom applied today, is that it exposes both the strengths & weakness of the user--thus political consultants tend to warn against it. (This reflects in large measure the decline in the ability to articulate in 20th & 21st Century American politics. Trump, while not always grammatical or polished, however, has the ability to articulate, unscripted, and has a natural aptitude for the one on one communication that is an important prerequisite.)
The Perot campaign in 1992 demonstrated the way not to use TV. He looked spaced out, because he was reading words, probably drafted by someone else, off a teleprompter, absolutely the worst way to proceed.
