As Portland mayor Ted Wheeler ordered the Portland Police Bureau to stand down and let the far left mob lay siege to the I.C.E. facility, employees at the building were helpless as they called for emergency services on at least two occasions due to the violence from the unhinged protesters. Police didn’t show up to help.
Now the I.C.E. employees are fighting back, threatening to sue the city for a violation of their 14th Amendment rights to equal protection under the law.
Willamette Week reports:
The union that represents U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers says on at least two occasions last month two federal ICE employees called the Portland police while being harassed by protesters—but cops did not show up, because the Portland mayor had ordered them not to intervene.

Portland did not violate the Constitution. Portland could not possibly do that. An individual (the Mayor?) made that decision. The mayor needs to suffer the consequences. Apparently, there are no consequences. Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake’s policy toward rioters: “while we tried to make sure that they (the rioters) were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on, we also gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well.” She was rewarded by being made Secretary of the DNC.

Either it is the federal taxpayer or the local taxpayer.
These are federal laws and it is the federal govt's responsibility to enforce them.
You are a cheapskate who doesn't want to pay more federal taxes and you want to push it off on local law enforcement paid for by the local Taxpayers.
Pay up and shut up! Hire a 100,000 more Ice agents and send them out to enforce the federal immigration laws.

Of course but if you had actually read the article the head of the labor union representing the ICE employees sent a letter of intent to the mayor saying that if he didn't uphold the law that protects all citizens that they would consider filing a lawsuit for equal protection under the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.
It helps to read the story.

My nephew is an ICE agent up there, trust me they didn’t need any help from the Portland PD.
He sent me a great picture of the ICE agents raising “OLD GLORY” after the agents cleared out the scum and sanitized the building.
To use the gist of your very own argument ‘is this the best you can come up with?’ Please, give us all a break! Wikipedia as a news source. Makes me laugh out loud.
Wikipedia just happens to say what other FReepers have been saying for some time. Gateway Pundit has always been thought of as a clickbait site, which explains their provocative headlines which are never supported by their stories. Their modus is to take stories written by other news outlets, rearrange the sentences, add a little more stuff then headline it as if their people actually reported it.
When their tactics become so obvious that even a left leaning site like wiki writes it up ( you will notice gateway pundit has never sued wiki for libel, because its all true). Even conservatives need to recognize fake news on the right. In the case of GP the objective is to MAKE MONEY, nothing more. Personally Inhate deception regardless of where it comes from.
They have the power to selectively enforce what ever they want. Even if it’s not actually the law.
