Where is all this going? Jail anybody who has a last name that once belonged to a slaveholder?
This is nothing more than expansion of White Guilt.

The time is here to fight back on these loonies. Our history is important. These people are not.

So far it seems they always get their way.

The best thing that could happen to this world, this country in particular, is if all the leftists magically melted and flowed down into the sewer drains where they belong.

Then all this lunacy would finally stop.

How about we dismantle the Democrap party being that Democraps are the ones who owned slaves? Disqualify them from ever holding political office again as a form of reparations.

I though it was named after the famous secret agent.

Nothing says “slaveholders” like the word, “democrat”.

Just find a black guy named “Austin” and say it’s named after him.

That’s what King County (Seattle) did. They just decided it was no longer named after the white guy, but after Martin Luther King.

Slavery was legal and common during the time Austin lived. I suspect this is less about slavery and more about the Texas War of Independence.

No suggestion was given for a new name, is Santayana in the running?

That should be done the day after they rip and tear down everything in West Virginia that has anything to do with Senator Robert Carlyle Byrd, KKK Kleagle, and Klan recruiter, . . . and I mean EVERYTHING.

“...if slaves were freed, they would turn into “’vagabonds, a nuisance, and a menace,”...”

Well in some cities that case can be made. As General “Old Jube” Early said, “What a gentle institution slavery must have been to have so well prepared the Negro for the ballot box.”

These suppressors of history need to be introspective enough to see their own contemporary racism instead of always harping about yesterday.

“In the latest efforts to rectify America's history of its slaveholding past, Austin’s Equity Office suggested that the Texas capital change its entire name in addition to removing statues and street signs in honor of Confederate soldiers.”

Austin was not a Confederate so this is no longer about dishonoring Confederates.

This is about dishonoring anyone that had a servant bound to service - Austin, defenders of the Alamo, and yes, George Washington, Ben Franklin, et al.

Soon, it will be about dishonoring those that fought in the old segregated United States army, including those that waded ashore on D-Day. Those monuments and headstones in Arlington - take them down.

According to the former First Lady, the proud history did not begin until her husband was elected president in 2008.
