Donald Trump Jr is in hot water on social media after posting a picture of his eldest son holding a gun on Thursday.

The 40-year-old is under fire after posting a throwback picture of nine-year-old Donald Trump III holding a double-barreled shotgun while on a duck hunting trip.

'Donnie helping me out in the #duck blind last season,' he said in the post caption, tagging the photo in Texas.

Definitely the best #hunting buddy out there. Get them outdoors early and often... you won't regret it!!!'

The image has garnered split reactions, with many wondering if it is safe for such a young child to be holding the gun.

'Guns are a dangerous toy for a child,' said one person in the comments.

Another added: 'You truly are disgusting....'

'Please tell me this is for food and not just a sport; and that it’s being done as painlessly as possible,' a different parent stated.

My three gırls and a boy were handlıng and shootıng guns ö two of the gırls by the tıme they were 12 and the other gırl and the boy at 7. All four grew up just fine.

I suspect so, otherwise the lips would appear too grey. This is a very well done professional photograph, so I would expect the photographer to use make-up on the subject to get the best result. Why not? I'm sure there is also a huge soft box to fill in the shadow on the right side of the boy's face.

Snowflakes! Othere than that I don't want my 10 year twins's pictures online too much, I could show one shooting pistol in a league--only kid, and he beats most adults. Or, how about 2-weeks ago shooting AK-47 SAR? Or hitting steel at 100 meters with an AR-15? Maybe executing watermelon? We've been doing all of the Mythbuster gun experiments. Fruit and eggs and all are great as we can leave the mess. Little 62 caliber paint balls at 30 feet are great as well. Both shoot full-size Sig Sauer P320 just fine.
