OMAHA, Neb. They are two stories that are hard to forget from January 2016.
First, 21-year-old Sarah Root, killed hours after her graduation by a man in the country illegally.
And a central Nebraska man so desperate to get a new heart, he left home in a blizzard, making it to the hospital just in time.
KETV has learned that these two stories will forever be linked together.
Dan Griffin, the man who battled the blizzard, was the one who received Sarah Root's heart that night.

Trump does gather a lot of hate.
That is going to be wonderful for Sarah’s Mom! Blessings from something so awful.
Funny how that works, sometimes. :)
What’s amazing is that the mom and other Angel mom’s have received letters threatening them and their families for support President Trump and his policies.

Wow. It really makes me think we’re already in a Civil War - the shooting just hasn’t begun.
ALL illegal aliens should be removed BEFORE they can harm Americans.
Crimmigration kills.
“...- the shooting just hasnt begun.”
Tell Rep. Scalise that. I’m sure he’ll be relieved.
Tragic and beautiful at the same time.
Still very sad.
Our daughter received two livers transplants at UNMC so that place has a special meaning for us. This story of Sarah Root especially tugs at our hearts. In the meantime my daughter and a group here in Florida does their best in promoting the gift of life. Praying for the Root family and your daughter who must miss her friend very much.
Well said.
God Bless the Roots.
What an beautiful and sad moment that will be for them, but to think how their daughter has given life to another.
Please give all involved hugs from our family.
Hopefully some of this hate will dissipate with time.
WE PRAY.
