This entire thing probably seemed like a secret game to these people involved. I doubt a single one thought about the serious laws they were breaking at the time. It probably made them feel sexy and naughty which spiced up their rich celebrity lives which are probably boring as heck.
These people could get up to 20 years in prison.
With that much money it was for kicks, and I suspect if one digs deep enough there may be an inverted pentagram or two involved.
‘Kicks’ on this level aren’t any run of the mill party games.
