Rush does a mea culpa on 'free' trade
Rush Limbaugh ^ | 7/26/18 | Central VA

Posted on 07/26/2018 12:27:49 PM PDT by central_va

Sorry for the vanity but Rush did a 180 on trade today and I am proud of him.

Rush confessed he was wrong all of these decades about trade, live on air just a few minutes ago! He also admitted Perot was correct and the the one sided trade the US( and its workers ) have been subjected to was wrong and it was erroneously pawned off as 'free trade'. He said he was duped by economists.

I just listened in amazement committing free trade heresy live. It was a great radio show today! Awesome!

Rush is off my S list. He is big man for doing this.

He is an admitted water carrier for the gop. He attacked Buchanan and Perot for years. Perot was a gun grabber, but he was right about NAFTA and the national debt. Rush has always been a republican. Republicans believe in free trade. Even though we don't have free trade.

I'm glad he finally gets it. That doesn't mean much. He didn't pay attention to illegal aliens until it was too late.

We have a kool aid drinker! Go away traitor.

What do we call people who like to have Government tell others how they should spend their money? Whatever it is - that's what you are promoting

It was supposed to immediately crater the economy. It didn’t. The apocalyptic predictions didn’t come to pass. Meanwhile, as we were all becoming amateur Austrian economists, our nation’s social fabric was being destroyed. Clinton’s tax increase had a negative impact, as all tax increases do. It didn’t send us all into immediate poverty. Of course it was later offset by a capital gains tax cut.

Rush, to his credit, did not stop emphasizing social issues; the GOP did.

Rush being on the “cutting edge” should have known Nafta was destructive. He was the voice we all trusted and agreed with on this. Yes, I’m glad he said he was wrong and was duped, but he also did a lot of damage by aiding his listeners to trust him (and Bush) that they knew better. Rush was late to the Trump Train and he is now very late to the anti-Nafta train. Having said that, welcome home Rush! Sometimes, your listeners are more cutting edge than you.

“It’s funny he would do that just a day after Trump admitted his trade war was asinine and begged for a truce from the EU.”

You forgot the sarc tag! (/s)

Rush hasn’t always gotten it right by our measuring stick, but folks we’d be hard pressed to find a guy that can to better.

We’re going to have philosophical differences from time to time.

While this issue has been very important to me since the early 1990s, it wasn’t a deal breaker for me.

Look at the folks here who never got it, and still haven’t.

Actually “one-sided” free trade would work wonderfully for America if we did it completely i.e. remove all business taxes and almost all business regulation. That could, initiate a different sort of trade war, one in which other countries tried to reduce the imposed costs of doing business on their own industries. Combine that with the 50s practice of allowing the young science and tech geniuses of the world to study at our universities then inducing them to stay and become Americans and the USA would own the next 50 years as it owned the fifty years after WWII. American labor outproduces all others per dollar of input except for the artificial costs- taxes and prolific regulation. We have already seen that when the taxes and regulation have been reduced the economy takes off. Now finish the job and remove all taxes and regulation. The good that is seemingly done by OSHA et al can be replaced by the courts and keeping business responsible with post hoc actions for their deficiencies.

The federal govt has very few responsibilities but protecting the border is one of them. Tariffs are the protection American workers deserve, need and are now starting to get. It is not just human traffic that we need protection from. Stopping predatory dumping of goods is also the job of the feds. It should happen automatically. They raise their tariffs then we raise ours. It should be axiomatic.

Bingo! Buchanan and Perot were the only one's out of the whole lot of them that were worth a damn. Deep state and their media communications division did the same to them as they're attempting 24/7 with Trump.

That’s good news. Rush is the most talented broadcaster in American history and he has a powerful voice. It will be nice to have him with us on this issue like he has been on so many others.

GOPe’s reaction to Rush’s new found heresy:

“He’s a witch. Burn him at the stake!”

Rush is a sharp guy. He’s more intelligent than he plays on the radio, so I’m happy he’s with us, but not pleased that he did not speak up earlier. But he’s on the right track now.

Look what it did for the past 3 decades. It was horrific for the majority of middle America...We were ruled by globalist free trade con-men, liars and posers.

No more profits regardless of consequences!

Those days are over.

If you go back and listen to his show yesterday, he TOOK CREDIT for DJT’s action yesterday, saying “That was my idea, the President listened to me. And we know his people monitor this show...” blah blah blah

I turned it off; it was sickening.

It is our right to earn income without it being taxed, too.

We don’t get that option. Our government chooses to penalize earning reportable income for businesses and individuals while encouraging purchase of goods from outside the US.

That is 180 degrees out of phase.
