Also Illinois, Ohio, Indiana etc..

This is a HUGE win for President Trump.

That's MY President! (So glad to be able to say that after the 8 year reign of terror that was the Obama Administration and the 8 years of GW Bush!)

I am all for tariffs but I think this is being over hyped. The “business” community wants all of this nasty trade stuff to be over with so they are laying it on thick. I think this is the beginning and calling this a MAJOR victory is a bit of a stretch. Making a promise to buy more of our natural mineral resources and low end cash crops is not much of a “concession” IMO. I LOT more to be done here.

This was a skirmish and not even a battle and we are a looong way from victory. Our annual trade deficit is up year over year.

Yes, 'our' import tariffs are inflationary. 'Their' import tariffs ( on our exports ) are deflationary.

For the most part, the highest levels of economic sophistication concerning trade and tariffs exists mostly on the other side of the pond ( the big pond too ). Only Trump and few others over here get it.

Good thing is even Chuck Schumer is coming around.(not intentionally I suppose)

He made a statement today about how all PDT is doing is creating a crisis he can easily fix then claim victory because he fixed it.

RIGHT ON CHUCKIE.

If you ever WORKED an honest day or better— year in your sorry life, you may get an idea of how the world can work.

Schumer

Harvard Law 1974
NY State Assembly 1974-80
Pass Bar 1975
US Congress 1981-2004
US Senate 2004-2018

Lots of real life there Chuckie Boy...

In other words: “China is screwed”.

First guy in gets the deal and now China will be forced to make Yuge concessions or be sidelined by the USA/EU partnership and dollars flow freely between our less restrictive economies...

I’ll jump in here.... regarding soy beans for China.

I saw some one on fox who layed out the position. China needs the soy beans from America. Brazil is the other porducer and one might think that the loss of American beans would benefit Brazil. Except that Brazil production is maxed out. Brazil cannnot pick up the slack.

So China customers pay more for the tariffed beans or do without.

Trump has the upper hand

Huge win? Really? We ship them soy and gas and they ship us cars. What’s changed really?

Brazil has been buying our soybeans at a discount, then moving them along to China. China is probably paying around the same price (or more).

Meanwhile Trump made an agreement with Europe that will see our soybeans sold to them in short order.

The E. U. just agreed to increase soybean orders immediately.

Sounds like our farmers will be okay.

I agree with your take on things, and specifically that Trump has the upper hand. He’s doing just what needs to be done, and I’m darned proud of him for doing so.

I’ve been asking for this sort of thing for about 20 years now.
