Fox Business host Lou Dobbs on Wednesday night said he supports the White House's decision to ban a CNN reporter from a press event for asking President Trump questions earlier that day.
His comments came shortly after Fox News President Jay Wallace said his network stands in "strong solidarity" with CNN.
"My question is, who the hell are you?" Dobbs said after reading CNN's statement about the ban. "The president does insist on respect."
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement that the White House barred one of CNN's reporters, Kaitlan Collins, from a press availability in the Rose Garden because she "shouted questions and refused to leave despite repeatedly being asked to do so" during President Trump's meeting with EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker earlier that day.
"It's about time there were consequences for disrespectful behavior in the White House," Dobbs said.
CNN reported that Collins spoke at a normal volume as she asked Trump questions during a photo op with Juncker in the Oval Office. She asked questions about former lawyer Michael Cohen and Russian President Vladimir Putin, two of the biggest stories of the day.
CNN said in a statement that the White House's actions were not "indicative of an open and free press."
"Just because the White House is uncomfortable with a question regarding the news of day doesn't mean the question isn't relevant and shouldn't be asked," the network said. "This decision to bar a member of the press is retaliatory in nature and not indicative of an open and free press. We demand better."
Fox News host Bret Baier earlier reiterated Fox News's support for CNN following Collins's ban.
"As a member of the White House press pool, Fox stands firmly with CNN on this issue of access," Baier said on air.
Dobbs has assumed an adversarial stance against his Fox News colleagues before.
Last week, as Fox reporters called out President Trump for his conduct during a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Dobbs said he thought the president "handled himself perfectly."
“What would it have taken to satisfy the morons on those clips?” Dobbs asked.
Trump has faced intense bipartisan backlash since the Helsinki summit, during which he downplayed Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Love the Fox News Business channel with Lou Dobbs. I find myself switching to that station a lot when he’s on.
Sanders says she did not leave when the reporters were asked to leave. Frankly they would not do this to Obama. And they are merely grandstanding and not trying to report the news but trying to be the news. If I were Sanders I would throw out far more reporters or stop press updates all together. Or hold them in another town.
Lou Dobbs is the ONLY Fox news person I watch.
