I can actually see the reason for some high levels to keep their clearances (e.g. I understand 4 Stars keep theirs). They can have some useful knowledge on past negotiations and/or actions.
However, what should be enforced is “Need to Know”. Just because they have the clearance should not allow blanket access to anything. The access should be limited to what the current administration deems useful from each individual.

Yes but when Clapper publicly criticizes President Trump, he should be “fired.” There is no reason for him to have a security clearance. Did he not accuse President Trump of treason?
I'm seeing this offered as a reason here and there, as it has been tradition. But it is also being said that these "certain individuals" have no intention of helping this Administration.
