Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) tells @burgessev and me outside GOP lunch that $12 billion in trade assistance to farmers from Trump administration "this is becoming more and more like a Soviet-type of economy here" with "commissars" sprinkling around benefits.

Duh, like 0bambi’s auto bailouts and Porculus?
The people of the United States would be perfectly happy if Senator Johnson would go all the way with his logic and demand that the fine folks of Wisconsin pay the rest of us back for the last few decades of farm subsidies to his state. Now that we’ve all agreed that tariffs and protectionism are bad for the country, I mean.
We’re looking at you too Senator Sasse, cut us a check.
“Yep, Ill pay $10 more for something, and my neighbors will have a job for the first time in over a decade.”
If you’d like to pay just a bit more in taxes every year, the government could give ALL of your neighbors jobs. Just a few percentage points more and the government could give them universal healthcare. Just a bit more and...etc.
Tariffs are nothing more than taxes on domestic consumption. If you want to nickel and dime society to pay for government selected social goods, you’re in the wrong party and on the wrong board.
Dirtbag Johnson has a habit of dropping these FU’s at POTUS. Sad given he would have never been reeelcted without Trump voters. I find it especially nasty and gratuitous given that he won’t be on the ballot for another 4 1/2 years.
PLEASE provide ANY evidence you may have or reason you suspect John Bolton of being a Trump hater.
Trump carried Johnsons ass over the finish line in 2016 but never misses an opportunity to bash him anyway.
Yeah, I’ve noticed the same. The US Senate really is the bottom of the beltway sewer. Absolute scum.
nvm ... Alex Bolton (d’Oh).
Right now we are putting back to work millions of Americans. We are not adding millions to the health care roles, unless those folks are getting a plan from their employers.
If that’s what you were addressing, I agree.
Well, Emily Litella, the Bolton in question is ALEX Bolton, not National Security Advisor John Bolton.
Okay, here’s another “Conservative” on an open forum trashing tariffs.
Our Founding Fathers preferred them to straight taxation. They saw them as a limiting the size and scope of the federal government.
So true.. and a new guy comes in and actually works hard.. and he’s the oddball.
The embodiment of the Country Club Chamber of Commerce so-called Republicans.
Seems like it, but at the root of it all, they seem to be using the issues as a herding device.
From his picture he certainly looks like one. Weedy looking guy with an expensive bad haircut and a superior expression.
What exactly is the END? We don't have an demand position on the table. There is no official request of the Chinese that has even been made.
The United States is virtually a self sufficient economic unit. You are da*ded right I would be willing to pay more for a wide range of products to restore the destroyed cities of middle America such as Erie Pa or Rockford Il. Now as far as the welfare class from Chicago that have poured into places like Kankakee or Rockford I would be more than happy to force them back to Cook County and dramatically reduce or eliminate their gimmedat regime.
Trump has said for more than a year that tariffs would cause TEMPORARY pain and that his administration would be ready to provide relief.
The relief was set aside for a TEMPORARY relief program. The Trump Administration wisely foresaw that the tariff conflict would cause casualties and that relief would be necessary.
The relief to farmers will be ended once America’s trading ‘adversaries’ adjust their tariffs on goods and services. The President is exposing the unfairness with which other trading groups treat American producers and manufacturers.
Of course, the Mocking Bird Media will use anyone to blast at anything the President does. If he does not help the farmers, they will say Trump hurts Americans. If he helps farmers, they will say he is establishing a ‘Soviet’ economy. They are nuts, literally nuts.
As others have said, if Trump was seen walking on water, his media cranks would say it’s evidence he does not know how to swim.
