King County could require stores that sell guns to post signs at the door and cash register warning that owning a firearm increases the risk of suicide, homicide and other deaths.
Metropolitan King County Council Chairman Joe McDermott is proposing the new regulation, which would be enacted and enforced by the King County Board of Health.
The measure is the latest in a series advanced by local politicians and activists who say gun violence is a public-health crisis and should be dealt with as such.
Washington State Initiative 1639, which is likely to appear on the November ballot, would require gun-purchase applications to include a similar warning about the risk of death a little like the Surgeon Generals warning on packs of cigarettes.
"Over 35,000 Americans die by firearms each year, and we need to take all the steps we possibly can to protect those who live in King County, McDermott said, comparing gun deaths to highway fatalities.

People in Seattle are like: they commit suicide because they’re afraid of dying; that’s their mentality.
I-1639 is only an also mention.
Apparently, they changed the NAMESAKE, not the name. From William Rufus King (who was Vice President when the Washington Territory was created in 1853) to MLK.
The original King was a cisgendered white guy. 😀😀
A warning about suicide would just make me shake my head in disbelief.A warning about homicide would stiffen my resolve to buy a firearm.
“King County was ‘rechristened’ for MLK Jr.
The original King was a cisgendered white guy. “

OMG.that’s about the funniest thing I have read today-——so far.
Liberals are NUTS!
.
Soooo...are they going to also have signs at Home Depot and Lowes about ROPE? Or, how about the stores with Knives? Sheesh.
What it means is that liberals are fundamentally dishonest; they are despoilers of the truth; and place emotions and immediate gratification over all else - including life other than their own.
All liquor stores must then post about drunk driving & depression.
All grocery stores & restaurants of all kinds must post about obesity, diabetes, heart issues, and other health problems.
Victoria’s Secret would have to post about being so provacative that you could be assaulted.
I could go on & on.
The comedic aspect of this is that they’ll then have to supply the same warnings to most products in hardware stores, cutlery, etc.
Would love for them to cite how many times current firearms laws have stopped crime committed with firearms.
I could go on & on.

I tell the fools that taking my gun to stop shootings is about as good an idea as him chopping off his tallywacker will stop rapes and sexual assaults.
Normal first response is that is stupid, I never raped or assaulted anyone
Well if I take your word for it, you have raped as many people as I have shot
Then just walk away while they digest that. Not worth the energy arguing with the idiots.
This initiative is already being challenged in a lawsuit due to the fact that it directly gives lat s the states initiative statute which says any initiative can only cover one single subject. It also is against the states preemptive n law.
