It used to be known as King County until government leaders decided they did not like the historical connotations of the name. So they voted to rename the county, King County. Look it up.
What does that even mean? Used to be King so they renamed it King?

Apparently, they changed the NAMESAKE, not the name. From William Rufus King (who was Vice President when the Washington Territory was created in 1853) to MLK.
