Joe Lieberman has long been many Republicans favorite Democrat.
Not because he’s particularly conservative but because he’s an honest, well-meaning politician… and there aren’t many of those around anymore.
Lieberman is in the news again now because he’s penned an op-ed criticizing his party’s shift to the left. Lieberman argues that if Democratic-Socialists like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez truly are the future of the Democrat Party, then the Democrat Party doesn’t have a very bright future ahead.
Really the point was, what is the Democratic party going to be? I am still a Democrat and when I see somebody that really says she is a Socialist, she is a very charismatic, captivating candidate but if you look at the policies, those are not policies that will be supported very many places across America. If her win makes her into what Kellyanne Conway calls it “the new face of the Democratic party”, the Democratic party will not have a bright future…
As I said in the column in the Wall Street Journal today, she didn’t talk too much about foreign policy during the campaign. She obviously by her own acknowledgment does not know that much about foreign policy. But when she did talk about it, it was from the Democratic-Socialist organization policy book. It is very pro-socialist around the world…. Let me put it this way, it is too quick to criticize Israel so she during the campaign actually said at one point that the Israeli action to defend against the massing of troops on the border in Gaza by Hamas, was a massacre. That is very hot language and not fair.
The Democrat Party needs more Joe Liebermans and fewer of everything else they’ve got these days.
Sadly, I don’t think Lieberman realizes that his party has left him behind. The Party of Lieberman and JFK is long gone… today’s Democrats are the Party of Bernie Sanders and the socialists.

His wife is/was a big D.C. lobbyist. If the socialist take over she will be out of a job.
Joe seems to expect us to think he hasn't seen this coming. If we've seen it coming, why hasn't he?
I think in non-metropolitan towns, trying to sell Democratic-Socialism just won’t work. Maybe on a college campus and cities like Chicago....you might convince 50-percent of Democrats to buy off on this....but the bulk of folks just aren’t going listen to this stuff.

Lieberman is right, for now. But it all depends on how the media sells those policies. As we all know, most of the media is hard left, and is getting more so each year.
Amen. The Democrats just want to PROMISE Socialism in order to get the taker class up off the couch and voting for them.
They never dreamed they would one day have to actually DELIVER Socialism.
He’s a dying breed, one of the last “reasonable” Democrats, if I can use such words. Reasonable, as opposed to today’s unhinged leftist Democrats.
Seems to be quite the civil war, or unrest, brewing in the democrat party. The tables have turned. Republicans are 88% behind their leader while the dems that are winning are the radical left. This will bode well for the good guys in November.
It is dawning on Joe in his dotage the harm his allegiance to the Democratic Party and its policies has done. At its core the Democrats are globalist, socialist, open borders advocates and anti Zionist. If they come to power they would in a microsecond betray the American nation and subject its people to a world government dominated by foreign Leftists. Make no mistake, the Judeo-Christian heritage would be destroyed.

So, he is against his party embracing socialism, not because it is wrong but because it wouldn’t garner enough vote to get them in office.
