In these tumultuous political and cultural times, we must resolve to be our best selves regardless of the temptation to join the fracas. We must aspire to talk to one another.
It is not easily done, and some pay a price for trying.
Last week, Hollywood filmmaker Mark Duplass implored like-minded progressives to engage with people they don’t agree with. He tweeted: “Fellow liberals: If you are interested at all in ‘crossing the aisle’ you should consider following @benshapiro. I don’t agree with him on much but he’s a genuine person who once helped me for no other reason than to be nice. He doesn’t bend the truth. His intentions are good.”

Now, as it has always been, the leftist/progressive/communist media, Obama and his fellow travelers look the other way while their ANTIFA/”Occupy”/”Rent-a-Mob followers beat people with sticks, bike locks and skateboards; chase those with whom they don’t agree out of public places, scream them off the air, steal hats, etc.
Talk my ass! The Left is not interested in debate or discussion; witness the reaction to the appearance of conservatives on our college campuses. If you really want to enter into discourse with a Leftie, be PREPARED to walk away, be chased and screamed at - or fight. Otherwise, don’t bother. I, for one, will not be a victim.
This is what the postmodernists want. They believe that we should abandon the search for final objective truth and instead concentrate on areas where we can all agree.
But does truth result from such conversation? Not really, because no agreement will ever be final, and will just set the stage for another round of conversation.
I've avoided contact and dialogue with liberals for 2 decades now. Let them stew in their own juices. I'm not interested in the soup they have to offer.
