Recordings and summaries of emergency calls show Washington wildlife officials at first objected to an air rescue of a woman treed by wolves, or help from the Okanogan County sheriff.
Washington wildlife managers initially opposed sending a helicopter or a search-and-rescue team to save a woman treed by wolves in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, according to recordings and summaries of emergency calls.

Notes from a call between DNR dispatcher Jill Jones and a wildlife officer summarized WDFWs position, and her position, shortly before the helicopter launched.
No helicopter. Federally listed species. 3 WDFW personnel saying so, according to DNRs call log.
We are more concerned for her life than the listed animal, Jones told the officer. He indicated that she is safe up in the tree. ... I told him that we do not know how safe she is. I dont know how stout the tree is, and if the limbs will continue to hold her or how long she can hold on.
...
. Within a half hour, the woman was safe in the DNR helicopter piloted by Devin Gooch. The wolves had scattered as Gooch flew overhead before landing in a meadow.

according to DNR call logs, the agency was prepared to launch the rotor and will deal with aftermath of WDFW later.

Jones, the DNR dispatcher,...
When I talked to Fish and Wildlife, they said, Nope. Thats not search and rescue. Thats just us. And no helicopter, Jones said.
For goodness sakes, somebody needs to figure it out, the county dispatcher said.
I dont know how long this girl can hang in the tree, Jones said. ... so were finally just launching a helicopter.
The flight from Omak to the woman took 14 minutes,

UN Agenda 21 ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)
Astonishing.
As for the wolves, I am tired about hearing how misrepresented and unfairly vilified as a species.
There was a reason they were hunted to near extinction in some places: humans are prey to them.
What happened to the meme that wolves have gotten an undeserved bad rep?
Isn’t it something when they forget and show their true colors. They couldn’t give a flying fip if a vicious dog breed they have reintroduced to the environment kills livestock or even people. In their leftist calculus that will discourage people from visiting the area and they like that.
Government officials never worry about protecting citizens...unless it involves their own sorry a$$es.
We should emphasize to folks....this was State employees...not federal employees who made this decision.
Anyone know whether the woman hates guns?
How far off the road was the victim?
Notice the multitude of overlapping government agencies.
All with paid staff, and their own little fiefdoms.
Every one of them could be paid on call if needed at all.
The County Sherrif can call as needed.
Anyone know whether the woman hates guns?
The victim should have said,’ I’m going to start shooting the damn things if they come any closer.
Gotta hang up now to get a better grip...
Wolves kill for the fun of it. That woman would have been a good example.
Progressives should stop breeding because they are a threat to the human species.
One of the environmentalist myths is that wolves do NOT attack human beings. They wouldn’t admit that the woman was in danger. And if the wolves did get her they probably wouldn’t leave any evidence behind.
WDFW = Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, for those of us who hate undefined acronyms.
If she LIVES in the Okanogan she probably does NOT hate guns...if she is a visitor, she probably DOES hate guns...imho.
Wolves don’t even bother to kill you before dining. They just eat you alive. This is all about that Agenda 21 mother earth carpola.
Can’t risk the wolves so we won’t save the human life.
Liberal bullies value the animals over the human because they hate humans and relegate animals to helpless innocent little babes to be protected over all else. It is maternal instinct warped to the point of evil.

Someone needs to dox the name and address of the employee
And the hiker should have had a Glock.
