A cardiologist who once treated former President George H.W. Bush was gunned down Friday morning while riding his bicycle through Houstons Texas Medical Center.
*snip*
Hausknecht was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Finner said he was hit at least once.
The area where the shooting took place is part of a 1,345-acre complex of hospitals and medical institutions, including the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and is teeming with traffic and pedestrians during the day.
Hausknecht was going to work at Houston Methodist Hospital when he was shot, the hospital's CEO said in an email to staff.
*smip*
Police are still trying to determine if the shooting was random or a targeted act.

PIZZA GATE ?
If I was writing this world a political thriller, the protagonist would start down a twisted trail of discovery when a cardiologist was assassinated for no apparent reason and it would turn out he died because powerful people were tying up loose ends after killing a Justice.
That has nothing to do with reality, of course. I wouldn’t slander the doctor’s good name by even suggesting such a thing. And I don’t know of any non-circumstantial evidence that happened.
So Podesta and Clintons: please don’t kill me!
But it might make a good novel.
New Orleans transplant
Seriously? Someone actually said this?
Oh, the non-circumstantial bit was ONLY that the Clintonistas and Obama had Scalia killed. And that stuff is all out there for anyone to ponder.
Again, don’t kill me!
Well, the conspiracy side of the situation certainly begs to know....what did this doc know?
Who else did he treat?
Maybe he was randomly targeted.
Probably the best plot development is that the doctor was close to someone involved, and not involved himself, and asked the wrong sort of questions.
Low levels panicked and tried to deal with the situation themselves. That might lead to a series of tying up loose ends while the protagonist was still under the radar.
That way it is believable he’d get close to the big boys.
That's some astute medical observation right there, given that he's dead and all.
A lot of the best hospitals are in really bad neighborhoods (filled with Democrats).
The Texas Medical Center is not a bad neighborhood and usually has security roaming around. A shooting in broad daylight is VERY fishy.
The description from the USA Today story I just read said the killer was on a bike, passed the doc on bike, got in front of him, turned around and fired two times. Doc fell to the ground. Doc flagged an ambulance, was taken to hospital, and died.
Doc did all his post med school residency and such at Johns Hopkins. WAs there in 1986 until I’m not sure when.
Doesn’t seem random.
Shot by another guy on a bike? Obvious hit.
The part noting the killer was also on a bicycle seems to indicate the killer knew his routine and mimicked it.
Houston Police Executive Assistant Chief Troy Finner said that 65-year-old Dr. Mark Hausknecht
was riding a bicycle northbound on South Main Street about 9 a.m. when the suspect, also riding
a bicycle, drove past him, turned around and fired two shots.
Police are still searching for the suspect, who is described as a white or Hispanic man, KTRK
reported. He was wearing a gray warmup jacket, khaki shorts and a tan baseball cap at the
time of the shooting.
What did the doctor know about the Clinton’s?
Deep State hit.
