HOUSTON Police say a husband opened fire on two home invasion suspects as they tried to hold his wife at gunpoint overnight.
This happened around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at a home in in southeast Houston near Scott and Airport.
According to the Houston Police Department, the husband managed to shoot one of the suspects in the head.
Investigators said it all started when the mans wife pulled into their driveway Tuesday night. Then the two armed suspects jumped out and tried to rob her.
First, they took her purse, and then they tried to force her into the house. However, that is when her husband showed up.
He heard the commotion from inside, grabbed his gun and ended up exchanging gunfire with the intruders.
Fortunately, the couple werent hit, but one of the suspects was hit in the head, police said. The other suspect took off running.
Police said the injured suspect was taken into surgery.
As for the couple, one can only imagine what was going through their mind when this was all over. Hopefully, theyre able to find some peace of mind this morning, knowing theyre OK.

And holding his wife at gunpoint. Youda thunk he’d point the gun at the husband.
But did he then shoot the wife?
Dam it, I missed her!
An opportunity like this only comes along just so often.
IF I were ever in such a situation as the hostage, and I knew the ability of the person trying to shoot my attacker, I would seriously resort to just ‘dropping down, letting my legs buckle under me.
It is damned hard for anyone to hold up a person of average American weight. I weigh 142, and if I ‘buckled’, I don’t think someone could hold me upright any longer.
Taken into surgery? If I were the doctors, Id take about 2 hours to come up with a diagnosis.
Hmmmm...He appears to be suffering from poisonous humors caused by a witches potion. A good bleeding should have him back on his feet in no time.

Too bad he didn’t fall off the curb, US Marine-style, after he was shot in the head...
Works for me.
Whey my fleam?
Now I am wondering what was going through the bad guy’s head at the time...at 980 feet per second.
I recall one show that realistically had a lesson on just where to shoot the perp in the head so that no physical reaction, even involuntary, was possible.
A police officer was called to a domestic incident. A man sitting on the couch beside his wife took out a .357 magnum and shot her right between the eyes. When this cop arrived, she was still sitting on the couch with a handkerchief to her forehead. The bullet had passed between the lobes of her brain with surgical precision doing no damage. She said she had a headache. At the hospital they put one bandage on the front and one bandage on the back and sent her home. The officer said, “This remains the strangest event of my entire career.”
Good shooting, Citizen. Civilization thanks you.
RIP Marion Carl.
