The intrusion took place at Bell Stonebridge Apartments in Woodbridge, VA.
Working in politics, you become accustomed to the rough-and-tumble nature of the sport. But never in a million years could I have anticipated the New York Times sending a reporter to break into my apartment looking for a story. Were working with police investigators, and look forward to justice being served, Brian Landrum said in a statement.
The eyewitness was listening to music when she heard rustling, turned around, and saw a female in Landrums kitchen. The woman was turning to leave. The kitchen is 5 to 10 feet from the apartments threshold. The apartment is a secured facility with key fob doors. Non-residents are not allowed in the apartment building without consent. Access to the apartment building requires a key fob.

Or maybe trying to figure out who the female houseguest was.
Yes.
She also does most of her banking inside when the banks are closed at night. Gets around.
This web site and this story appear to be fake news. There are no second sources confirming *any* of this site’s wild-eyed stories or the claims made in this story in particular.
No one else is reporting this?
Yes... there’s another hoaxy story they came up with the other day.
Best to wait and see what’s up. She writes with reporter Michael Shearer who was in on going after EPA ‘s Pruitt. He hasn’t posted in quite a while, several days, so he may be working on a new lead on something both not to shy about bias.
She just posted on Twitter a few hours ago on GOP donors Liz and Dick Uihlein as “combative,” hard right, etc. No mention of this.
The houseguest should have shouted “Dosvidaniya”
Maybe just someone planting mention of an “unnamed female houseguest” inside a story seems tempting enough to flog all over social media?
No doubt there were lots of empty vodka bottles and stale pancakes around the place. Probably even caviar from an endangered sturgeon!
In law school I had a crim Law professor who was a retired VA Circuit Court judge, and I recall that his take on this point was that if you shot someone entering your property it was important that the body fall on your side of the fence.
We’re being trolled.
BigLeaguePolitics is planting fake stories to make us look bad for repeating them elsewhere.
Don’t bring truth...to this thread.
“There are no second sources confirming *any* of this sites wild-eyed stories or the claims made in this story in particular.”
You’re right. We should wait for the New York Times and Chucky Schumer to confirm the story. Maybe Cuomo can add some background.
In Virginia we have a duty to retreat, you cannot shoot intruders unless they are a lethal threat.
***********
Show us a Virginia case establishing that duty to retreat means that you have to leave your home while a perp walks off with you belongings.

The circumstance in the article was the perp turned to leave.
Shooting them in the back will get you arrested.
Isn't that what Watergate was all about?
Is it an investigation or is it a “matter”?
“Unless the intruder is armed or is a clear and imminent threat, you cannot use deadly force.
Simply being in your house is not enough reason to shoot them.”
This is correct. In Virginia, we have no duty to retreat, but if we do anything that even faintly resembles aggression, any self-defense plea could get shot down, so to speak. However, since the person has broken into your house already, that sort of lowers the bar for “imminent fear of great bodily injury.”
That said, you need to be able to quickly differentiate between a drunk who goes into the wrong house, a burglar who thought you weren’t home and an MS-13 home invader who wants to chop off your hands before he murders you. You can pull a gun on all three, but you can only shoot any of them if they look like they will attack.
