The centrist Bipartisan Policy Center on Tuesday released a Luntz Global survey that revealed a conservative shift in the publics view of immigration reform.
Key findings directly from the report:
..Americans support the construction of a border wall, they also believe that technology and personnel, as well as border barriers, are critical to improving the nations border security. ..Voters strongly believe that people living illegally in the United States should have a path to legal status, but it shouldnt be for free. ..Concerns were highest over immigrants competing with U.S. citizens for government benefits and lower on job competition. ..Nearly two-thirds of Americans find it very or extremely important that immigrants be able to hold a basic conversation in English, but only 11 percent believe immigrants should be fluent. ..Voters define merit broadly in an immigration system, suggesting that the United States should admit people who share its values, abide by the law, have family members here, and can meet job vacancies, whether high-or low-skilled. ..The public wants President Trump and Democrats to work out a compromise, not to leave immigration reform to states.
The Center calls their findings the new middle, and further to the right than many in Washington have been advocating for.
This new middle on immigration rests on a comprehensive solution: a controlled system with clear criteria for admission, that combines strong enforcement with a path to legal status for those currently in the United States illegally. If we want to reach a viable solution, legislators will need to craft a new blueprint that addresses these policy priorities, said Theresa Cardinal Brown, BPCs director of immigration and cross-border policy.

The Deep State was that close to stealing the country from US and putting US under the UN.
One more fake election between a Bush and a Clinton and they could get the final amnesty.
We wouldnt vote for the New World Order so they are importing people who will.
All of this hysteria (every time they do it) is about stopping Trump from restoring the rule of law.
We werent supposed to be able to elect a President who would enforce the laws and borders.
In every election since the last amnesty we have only be allowed to vote for amnesty candidates.
They had US in a box.
Until Trump.
We were supposed to get Yeb!
We have a very short window of eight years of Trump to undo 30 years of the Bush Plan for North Mexico.
We MUST get rid of the Bush League Republicans, particularly in the Senate. (Rubio, Graham, Alexander, Murkowsky, Hoeven, Heller all voted for amnesty)
We will never get legislation favorable to the citizens until they are gone.
This is Frank Luntz. Grain of salt.
Good luck with that.
We can’t get Asian immigrants to properly take a dump in a toilet.
My Austrian great grandparents forced themselves to learn English right away when they came here, and even had to have an American friend vouch that they would not require government assistance. They were going to send my great grandmother back just because she was pregnant, so her friend basically had to promise to cover the cost if she couldn't.
Needless to say my great grandfather worked tirelessly to provide and they never needed assistance or even credit throughout their lives. Built their own homes and paid cash for everything. It's offensive when Democrats compare them to the current crop of 'immigrants'.
Like hell they do. Repatriate!
I think your assessment is very accurate. Actually, I think they were so confident in having pushed the country beyond the point of return, that they overplayed their hand and dropped their pretense too early. When they say that Trump wants to ‘turn back the clock’, what they are really referring to is Trump preventing a radical transformation of America into something most of us don’t recognize or want.
I don't believe this for a second. People who are here illegally are exactly the kind of people we don't want to enter because they have no regard for our laws or sovereignty to begin with. Anyone here illegally should forever be barred from legal entry. If found here again; it should be a mandatory one year on a work farm to pay their way for their incarceration. Two years for a 2nd offense, three years for a 3rd, and so on.
What you highlighted is the propaganda part.
Guess what? There already is a path to legal status, it’s called ‘Go to the back of the line and apply just like anyone else.’
Neither do I believe that part. But none have designed a plan on how to go about this otherwise as Obama let so many in already and they’re all trying harder to get her before there’s any reform.
But, Russia, Russia Russia!
That’s right. D.C. is infested with them. It’s going to take some big pumps to drain this swamp. And from my perspective, some of these people here and elsewhere who are bitching about Trump are either frauds in on the Democrat con-job or the duped who think CNN is an impartial news organisation.
I’d define Trump as a hero for him to sticking his neck out like he does 24/7 while exposing this historic deep seated government corruption.
I agree.
That’s what I responded on point to.
hello??? stop wasting money and time on studies surveys etc and just do what the people have wanted for decades, secure our borders and deport all illegals. their “findings” are nothing new.
Or the South American, Central American, or mexican WETBACKS.
They go into the toilet, shit in the bowl and throw their used toilet paper in the corner, (that’s the one’s who even use toilet paper).
The current crop are not “immigrants”, they are INVADERS!
On the 5 offense they should be loaded onto a C-130 cargo plane and dumped some where between Hawaii and Midway Island.
From an altitude of no more than 1000 feet.
