Bronco Billy and the 25th Law of Power

When we were young, we were taught how to act, and told how to behave. The opinions of our peers decided what we would do, who we would date, and how successful our life could be. For those of us who never left our home town, these demands have become forged as the tightest shackles that bind us to the demands and needs of others.

However, once we leave that environment, we find ourselves in a new place with new friends and a new life. We are thus given and provided the opportunity to reconstruct our life. We are provided with the chance for us to define our life for ourselves. We can break forth through the limits placed on us by others.

Not only is this desirable, but it is often necessary. For true growth, and to be the most that you can be, comes from you defining how you will live, and under which terms that you will define your life.

heh... once you leave that environment... got to college, found out what happens when everyone in my dormitory complex -- which held half again the number of people as my home town -- is suddenly away from adult supervision at the same time. Oh, and how a few hundred slightly underaged kids conduct a progressive in multiple dorm rooms across multiple floors in multiple buildings. And how someone a couple of rooms over leaves a public note on the resident asst's door whiteboard asking for help with his mushrooms. And that fraternities sometimes hold uncarded keggers in the dorm lounge during rush.

a couple of interesting ideas, but IMO based on a crap premise.

This article holds up these as worthy goals:

command attention
don’t bore your audience
be the master of your image
be dramatic
be powerful

This sounds like a recipe for how to be a drama queen. I’m all for choosing your own path and defining yourself instead of letting others define you. But I’m not in favor of creating millions of new attention whores or power mad dictator wannabes. We’ve finally pushed Hillary off the stage. Don’t create another one.
