The United States and North Korea have agreed to search for the remains of 5,300 U.S. soldiers who died in the Korean War and whose bodies were never recovered, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a statement Sunday.
The statement was issued after the first general officer-level talks between the two countries since 2009.
Todays talks were productive and cooperative and resulted in firm commitments, Pompeo said. Officials will hold further meetings Monday to coordinate the next steps, including the transfer of remains already collected, he said.
The weekend talks were held in the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea....

They are looking for 5,300 MISSING dead from an active combat that lasted a little more than three years. (On average, somewhere about Five Americans per day! Every Day for three years!)

The USMC had a difficult winter withdrawal or retreat under constant Chicom pressure that could have destroyed them. The army also suffered north of the 38th that same winter. I was honored to have been able to assist UNCMAC and Col Brady in 1980-83 with the remains of both Chinese and Nork frogmen being returned at PMJ. I will never forget those remaining s li ed up on the floor.
