The Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) internal process for firearms-related background checks is gearing up for a change. A secondary system, known as the National Data Exchange (N-DEx), will be implemented in conjunction with the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), National Public Radio (NPR) reported.
"The N-DEx system is an unclassified national information sharing system that enables criminal justice agencies to search, link, analyze, and share local, state, tribal, and federal records," the FBI's website said. "N-DEx is also a strategic investigative information sharing system that fills informational gaps and provides situational awareness."
N-DEx is being implemented because of previous NICS failures, particularly in the Charleston church shooting incident where 21-year-old shooter Dylann Roof was able to purchase a firearm two months before the shooting despite having a felony drug arrest on his record. That arrest should have barred him from purchasing a firearm.

Fear not, boys and girls.Lisa Page is gonna be put in charge of it!
The FBI used to be annoying; now it’s terrifying. Corrupt and decidedly anti-American.
This is the best way they found to cover up the info on the hitlary Server Drive. Just over write The Drives.
Firearm Sales Records.
Federal law requires licensed firearms dealers to maintain records of gun sales indefinitely, including information about the firearm(s) being purchased, as well as the purchaser. Federal law prohibits the federal government from collecting firearm sales records in a central repository, however.
This means if you ever have had a NICS check, the Feds have access to that sales record!
I might agree with this if they tried it out on something else first. Voter registration comes to mind
There is nothing “broken” with NICS that needs a “new” program. The failings with NICS were that data that should have been entered in the system but were not. The new program won’t solve anything if humans don’t input the information in the first place.
The FBI protects the interest of white liberal elites and their pet victim groups.
Whatever they say is suspect.
That's a pretty impressive assemblage of words carrying absolutely zero semantic content. Not that I'm against situational awareness. That's the hair-raising feeling you get when any government official is spending your money to spy on you.
Like,,,
“I’m from the Government,
I’m here to Help!”
After reading the full article and the FBI's website on the new system, it's clear NDE-x is not related in any way to firearms sales, its purpose is to share arrest and criminal records between the FBI and participating LE agencies.
NDE-x does not supplement or could not replace NICS firearm related data.
However, the new system could delay or prevent the purchase of a firearm if an LE agency added inaccurate information into the system.

The FBI's leadership has been revealed to be a corrupt group of people. Now they are supposed to oversee our rights? Really? They can't even stay within the law themselves.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Even the setting up of this sort of system, is a violation of the intent of the Second Amendment.
It's time we put this genie back in the bottle.
Imagine setting up a database to monitor if Blacks use their Constitutional rights appropriately. Would that sound right?
Just another step to national gun registration.
It is also illegal to not delete the background checks according to the 2A Foundation but there is no penalty in the law.
Anyone believe the LEFTIST FBI isn’t keeping a copy?
“Used gun prices just went up.. d;^)”
OH DANG IT !! I just sold my entire collection — TOO SOON !
In theory this is a great idea if it were not for going after a piece of metal and infringing on a Constitutionally protected inherent right. How about we apply this double layer of background checks on ILLEGAL “immigrants” and “voters”. The ACLU and the left would NEVER let that stand.
“Dylann Roof was able to purchase a firearm two months before the shooting despite having a felony drug arrest on his record. That arrest should have barred him from purchasing a firearm.”
Arrest? You can lose your constitutional rights over a false arrest?
That ain’t right.
