Money is neutral. It, like a saw or axe, can be used to boon or bane. It is up to us to use it wisely or foolishly. Sorry, Ayn erred in the other direction.

The opposite of money is not the muzzle of a gun — it is a barter system.

"Often the bible does verge into what looks like a leftist screed"

Yes, but the leftist screed is missing one vital component. Something similar to communism can work just fine as long as you have a benevolent tyrant running things. But you can't have that in a worldly system, even if you found the perfect dictator, because government is constantly changing hands.

And also, I sometimes hear people say "Jesus was a socialist", because they've taken one or two of his statements out of context. "Render under Caesar what is Caesar's", or "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of Heaven". There is a deeper meaning behind these statements than they realize, however. But one thing is certain: Jesus never suggested we replace God with the state, which is the ultimate goal of socialism.

Does that render those portions of scripture into a dead letter?

I say no. They describe what should be church behavior today. Now IS it common church behavior? I daresay no. That’s how socialism got a welcome in America. People who remembered the old church fondly accepted a vacuum filler of any kind.

And people who say they want a Christianized government don’t think it through well. That is going to need some benevolent side. A rough consensus under God will do, but it isn’t going to look like unmitigated utter raw materialism.

I prefer a secular government, like atheists, but for different reasons. I think we should also elect Christian public servants, which does not violate separation of church and state like they try to claim. In a theocracy, you have fake religion for the purpose of power, when Jesus said “my kingdom is not of this world”. The lines between good and evil become blurred while I’d rather they were more clearly defined. We do end up with a lot of depravity in high places, but it would exist anyway no matter how you mask it.

That’s a really great point. People on the left do this all the time. It’s just virtue signaling and they never really accomplish anything other than feel good about themselves.

One size doesn't fit all. Let the big cities go socialist and have their own laws and taxes, as long as it stays within city limits. Many of our cities are already half way there anyway. Let everyone that wants big government move there. Where socialists always go wrong is forcing socialism also on the productive people that feed, heat, power, fuel, water, and protect them.

Most socialists correctly assess that having government steal for them is the best deal they are going to get out of life. They are unemployable in the private sector. Many people are just born losers.

For a short time in human history high-rise steel and concrete cities were economically and culturally important. With the growth of the internet though, city life has mostly moved online. The technology for building vertically one mile up is now just a terrorist target. It doesn't matter anymore if all the cities turn into third world loser dumps.

It *is* a good point and it’s an important point well worth some dwell time; not that I am in any way the original author of same. But it’s an important observation because it is behind so much of their rhetoric past and present. Because it is so formulaic to how they can continuously come up with the “outrage of the week”. It’s Russian collusion, then it’s mental instability, then it’s Trump taking money for hotel stays, then back to collusion, then Stormi Daniels, then tear apart families then back to Russia. The mechanism is to report something in the serious tone, so even though Russian collusion has been in the news on basically a 24 hour basis for 1.5 years now, some new facet is something THEY know and YOU don’t so in case you were not activated BEFORE here is your chance to become activated NOW. Today: Pregnant women illegals and how badly Donald Trump treats them, thank you Kamala Harris. Once you see it; you’ll see it multiple times a day.

http://evansayet.com/ Evan Sayet “How Modern Liberals Think” is an important talk on this and some other stuff.

We’ve been underwriting Europe’s socialism through tariffs and supporting NATO. If the European countries had to pay for everything, their economies and health care systems would collapse like a house of cards.

Trust in Trump.

Socialism is a philosophical weapon to use against those who are successful (or just fortunate), whom they envy.

Hitting the nail on the head.

The first thing leftists do to advance Socialism is try to destroy Christianity. Thus, the deadly sins of greed and envy are no longer sins. The envy of others for what they have that others do not is the critical component of Socialism/Communism. Politicians foment envy so they can confiscate others property and lives.

The outrage of the week really gets tiresome. There have been so many and by now people have forgotten about “he knew what he signed up for,” Puerto Rico, Charlottesville, and even Parkland.

I saw a video with Sayet once. It was very insightful.

Well, the folks who want a “Christian America” sure need to think it through. If it’s going to go beyond the Noahide laws — e.g. to the full Ten Commandments — this automatically raises the question of what to do with the generosity commands too.

Too much crap to remember. Wanna crush em? Laugh your ass off at them! They loose their minds at being mocked. Literally you can’t argue with an idiot. Laugh at them, mentally destroys their superiority.
