Another bad turn for Charles Oakley.
The Knicks icon was arrested at a Las Vegas casino on Sunday, TMZ Sports reported, for allegedly trying to cheat while gambling.
Oakley was suspected of adding to or reducing his wager on a gambling game after the outcome was known, officials from the Nevada Gaming Board told the website.

Usually it’s really easy to cheat at casino’s because nobody’s ever watching your hands.
;)
Black privilege.
I’ve heard that there is a lot of security in casinos. There are cameras everywhere, and also security that they do not talk about.
Best advice is not to try anything because you will be observed. I’ve heard there are “plainclothes” security people in casinos, who appear to be just another visitor, but they are really watching people.
I don’t gamble, but I think that casinos take a very dim view of people who try to cheatand they say that counting cards is cheating. In the old days things might have gone worse for him than being arrested. And to “cheat” by pulling chips from the table, that’s got to be pretty dumb with all the eyes in the sky casinos have.
How can they tell if you’re counting cards? Are they mind readers?
It's more than just that. Many uniformed casino employees are actually working on the security detail and you don't know it. The dealer dealing out cards or the cocktail waitress bringing you drinks could very well be a security officer and you don't know it.
Have a friend who works as Dineyworld that is plainclothes to catch shoplifters and pickpockets. Nabs about a dozen perps per week
Counting cards is a skill, not cheating. Unfortunately, casinos take a dim view on skilled players who turn the house edge to their favor.
Yep. I’ll never go back to Vegas after one of them pulled an ahole move on me. I was talking to my wife and a jerkoff dealer threatened me with expulsion. We were talking about what to get for dinner. The place is just too hostile and paranoid to ever return to. Sure they have reason to be that way, but it’s not something I wish to experience while on vacation.
He tried to palm back his chip.. he’ll pay a fine and get banned.
There are a few people who are good enough to get away with what Oakley was trying to do. They are probably known to the security in Vegas. I doubt Oakley has the hand quickness to pull this off.
> and they say that counting cards is cheating <
Card-counting is undesirable behavior, not criminal behavior. So if you’re caught counting cards, you won’t be charged with any crime. But you’ll be banned from the casino. Come back and you’ll be arrested for trespass.
By the way, sometimes you’ll see folks standing by the roulette wheel, keeping track of the numbers that have come up. The casino won’t both those folks. Because that technique gives you no advantage.
But keep track of the cards that have come up in blackjack, and out you go. Because that technique works.
Reparations come in many forms...
How can they tell if youre counting cards?
> How can they tell if youre counting cards? Are they mind readers? <
In my younger days, I dabbled with card-counting. So I’ll field that question.
In card-counting you assign a value to each card that has come out. The actual value depends on the system you’re using. And when the overall count is favorable to the player, you increase your bet.
And that’s when they’ve got you! Casino employees are trained to spot suspicious bet increases. The eye-in-the-sky camera will start paying special attention to you. Make a few more suspicious bets, and out you go.
There are counter-measures to that. Sometimes make a stupid bet. Sometimes increase a bet when the overall count doesn’t favor you. Etc. But all these measures reduce your winnings. And the casino folks are experts. You probably won’t fool them for long.
