There is method in democrat madness to openly advocate socialism.
There are tens of millions of immigrants now in the United States and it traditionally takes generations for children of immigrants to achieve comparative economic status with native Americans.
This huge influx of immigrants will look around at the cornucopia of plenty surrounding them and decide that they would not mind the government giving it to them and would comprise a huge voting bloc.

The problem with this is so many people are sick of the Neoliberal status quo of exporting jobs and being stuck working at Walmart part time. That doesn’t necessarily make people socialist despite what the Chamber of Commerce says.
It’s a false dichotomy.
He’s confusing socialism, the state owning the means of production, with agrarian communalism, the voluntary sharing of resources and labor. Many Midwesterners are for the latter, but you’d better keep your hands off their property, and your nose out of their business.

Only 23,000 votes would have swung Minnesota to Trump. Most of Minnesota is actually deep red. It’s the virtue-signaling, white-guilt city folk that vote D.
And with new life being breathed into the iron mining based economies of the iron range, no doubt that Minnesota will tip.
