McCain Tweets in Support of Kavanaugh
Twitter ^ | July 9, 2018 | John McCain

Judge Brett Kavanaugh has impeccable credentials & a strong record of upholding the Constitution. He is widely respected as a fair, independent & mainstream judge. I look forward to the Senate moving forward with a fair & thorough confirmation process.

I hope he doesn’t turn into another Kennedy.

Kavanaugh clerked for Kennedy.
Kavanaugh has said that he wouldn't overturn Roe v Wade.
Many are speculating the Kennedy made a deal to retire in exchange for naming his replacement from Trump's list.

SCOTUS remains 4/2/3 (L-to-R), it seems. Not the worst thing ever, but not the big win the Right was hoping for.

Maybe next it will be Breyer and Thomas retiring together, with Breyer getting the same deal, so that, after 4 Trump appointments, the Court will still only have gone from 4/2/3 to 3/3/3.

(Ginsberg will stay on the Court, even if she is hooked to machines keeping her alive. She will outlast Trump's 2 terms.)

The entire GOP will vote for him netting him 51 votes.

Red State Democrats won’t vote for him but doesn’t matter as they will lose their seats, ushering in a heavily GOP Senate.

Odds look good GOP will also retain control of the House.

They had to send out something otherwise speculation mounts whether he is even alive. Simply a leverage move to appoint Cindy for seat. The current seat holder is fully incapacitated; staff running interference and sending signal Cindy is a yes vote. He then resigns and have hand picked selection in place. Otherwise its lotsa luck without me.

Too bad his vote will be wasted.

Hey, that's a great idea! Don Willett for filling the next Supreme Court vacancy! Yeehaw!

McCain has had no change of heart. His approval is basically a sure sign that Kavanaugh is a centrist (he clerked for Kennedy, he is a Bush family devotee, he will not overturn Roe v Wade), and he knows that Trump will not appoint a Left-winger. This is the best that they can get, short of a 6 year period with a SCOTUS vacancy.

If Robert Byrd could cast Senate votes as a drooling vegetable, I suppose McCain will find a way to vote on this one.

McCain has made many enemies here in AZ and its right in the middle of primary season.
He can’t afford to be his normal self right now as he is still trying to get his wife a Senate seat.

“,liberals describe roe v wade as precedent”

So does Justice Clarence Thomas who said the Supremes pretty much accept roe v wade as settled law. There is no will to overturn it.

Scary.

Indeed. Because McCain's Trump enmity runs so deep, I suspect he is already dead and someone on his staff Tweeted that completely out-of-the-ballpark message.

Hope you’re right on your outlook.

Praying for a MAGA/GOP super majority to help President complete his agenda over the next six and a half years.

Certainly seems like the radical leftists’ tactics of intimidation, harassment and calls for anarchy are literally blowing up in their faces. We simply must deny them any chance to regain legislative powers to undo all the wondrous things President Trump has accomplished, etc.

Never Trumpers are on board.

How much more conservative do you want Trump to b?

His widely praised pick answers the question.

Kavanaugh has said that he wouldn't overturn Roe v Wade.

K said he would respect 'precedent'.

Liberals talk about RvW as precedent.

Not the worst thing ever, but not the big win the Right was hoping for.

My gut says liberal Democrats have nothing to worry about.

There will be no bold, sweeping rulings. Just the same middle of the road compromises.

If he’s a constitutional judge, then why did he say it’s ok for taxpayers to pay for the murder (abortion) of someone who’s not even a citizen.
