Democrats are currently favored in three seats held by Pennsylvania Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives, thanks in large part to a controversial and unprecedented decision by the Democrat-dominated Pennsylvania State Supreme Court earlier this year. In that decision, the Court rejected the state legislatures 2011 redistricting of the states congressional districts completed after the 2010 census and draw the boundaries of those congressional district lines themselves. All told, seven Republican-held seats in Pennsylvania are now on the Cook Political Reports list of 99 competitive races: two are rated likely Democratic, one is rated lean Democratic, one is rated Toss-Up, one is rated lean Republican, and two are rated likely Republican.
To get a sense of how significantly the Democrat-dominated Pennsylvania Supreme Courts gerrymandering has hurt Republican chances in the Keystone State this fall, consider that on December 30, 2017, when the Real Clear Politics Average of Polls gave the Democrats a 12.9 point generic congressional ballot advantage, five points higher than the Democrats current 7.2 point generic congressional ballot advantage, the Cook Political Report listed 0nly six Republican-held seats in Pennsylvania on the list of 99 competitive House races.
Democrats were not favored in any of these six Republican-held seats. Five were rated lean Republican, and one was rated likely Republican.
The two Republican-held seats in Pennsylvania currently rated as likely Democratic by the Cook Political Report are the new 5th Congressional District, which was created from three other districts, the largest of which was the old 7th Congressional District, which is currently represented by Rep. Patrick Meehan (R-PA-07), and the 6th Congressional District, currently represented by Rep. Ryan Costello (R-PA-06), who is not running for re-election and is classified as open.

Shocker!!!! Can’t beat someone with ideas or solutions, so just tilt the scale enough so they’re not even in the game.
How many of these newly discovered Democrats are actually United States Citizens?
The Democrat push back on asking if someone is a United States Citizen on the Census Form tells me all I need to know.
Is it Perjury to provide false information on a Census Form?
so it’s going to hurt all that much more when they lose
NO NEED TO VOTE, DEMOCRATS! THOSE ARE SOLIDLY (D) NOW!
Exactly. The districts were definitely rigged for Republicans, but judges should NOT be able to reconfigure voting districts. Ridiculous!
Democrats acting un-democratic once again.
I live just outside of Filthadelphia.
The only thing that makes Philly look decent, is Camden...
Repealing the ill-conceived 17th Amendment would greatly reduce effects of power grabs concerning House redistricting imo.
Gerrymandering
I suppose Republicrats don’t go judge shopping.
“...Gerrymandering....”
Yep, all TO STEAL VOTES. The filthy RATS.
I’ve brought that up from time to time, and there was some vehement condescending opposition here, don’t remember why.
Perhaps one of them will remind us.
This presumes Dem numbers don’t collapse across the board between now and November, and I wouldn’t lay too good odds on that.
Should have been taken to federal court.
This was a strategic hit job. The unions geared-up an all out effort to elect Democrats to this Court in an off-year election.
These people lay awake all night thinking of new ways to wangle political advantage.
Wait a minute.... 17th is for direct election of Senators....
That’s why we need 6-8x more congress critters so there’s a 100K : 1 ratio instead of the 700K :1 now. gerrymandering would not be a factor. 435 is not sacrosanct. Perhaps we should be asking why they stopped at 435 100 years ago.
My comment here still stands.
The main goal of the Dems was to unpack the black district to get more reliable D voters into other districts. Some of those are the precincts with 100% turnout with zero votes for Romney. That's a big problem, not solvable by voter ID (although voter ID definitely helps to stop cheating in other instances).
I think they had 20,000 votes cast in 2012, and not a single vote was for Romney?
Not even one? James O'Keefe's assertion was that that alone should ring alarm bells for voter fraud.
