A dive team brought a fifth boy out of a cave in Thailand Monday and were working at lightning speed to recover his coach and seven soccer teammates still trapped underground a day after the first four boys were successfully evacuated in an international rescue mission that has gripped the attention of the world.
The latest rescue was completed just after 5 p.m. local time, 6 p.m. Eastern time, a source close to the rescue operation said, about six hours after divers entered the jungle cave to resume the operation to save the remaining members of the soccer team that has now been in the cavern for 17 days.

Authorities have been rushing to extract the boys, ages 11-16, and their coach from the cave as the annual monsoon bears down on the mountainous region in far northern Chiang Rai province. Workers have been laboring around the clock to pump water out of the cave, and authorities said Monday that heavy downpours overnight did not raise water levels inside.

Also not to forget that one of the hero rescue divers died 3 days ago delivering oxygen, didn’t have enough for himself.

Looking at the details and distance of the tortuous path to where they went, this is indeed miraculous.
One brave diver, however, gave his life for their rescue.

I think most people have no idea just what it was they were up against.

I don't understand why they don't run/weave a 2.5 mile long O2 hose through the caves to the boys. A small diameter, high pressure hose, like the one we use to put air into our tires.

I’m hoping a really good documentary(ies) will be made on how this whole thing occurred and the mechanics of the rescue. I’m very fascinated by how the logistics were put together and hopefully, this has a tremendously happy ending for everyone involved.

No, they are Thai boys. The reason it has international coverage is because of the near superhuman efforts in action to save lives.

Have you been in a cave the last two weeks?
We talk about the boys, but the efforts by the divers is extraordinary. One of the two divers assigned to each boy carries to the boy’s oxygen tank. And it’s not for 10 minutes or so, it’s hours that they are swimming with a tank and equipment on their backs, holding a line and carrying this tank. The strength and stamina of those men is impressive. They came from all over the world to help out. It’s given people like me a new education and respect for their profession.
